What personality type is Nikolai Gogol? Nikolai Gogol is an ENFP personality type in MBTI, 7w8 - sx/so - 784 in Enneagram, SCUEI in Big 5, IEE in Socionics.
I’m a little confused about his page and why he’s voted as Se dominant. It is important to remember that both Ne and Se are extroverted perceiving functions; both will “engage with the external environment” so to speak- for Ne, they will explore possibilities that go far the concrete reality, for their ideal “experiences.” and Se is a very realistic function and if you put it into the dominant position, the person will see things as they are with no strings attached to it. A Se dom wouldn’t care about “What ifs.”- They’d be concerned with what is present within their 5 senses, this is just not Nikolai at all. The problem with Nikolai being a Se dominant is simple. He doesn’t lead with a function that sees things as they are. Rather, just like Dazai, he has the tendency to wander beyond the concrete reality and see possibilities through the external environment. Here’s one of the things Jung said about Ne users (From his book http://psychclassics.yorku.ca/Jung/types.htm) “Just as extraverted sensation strives to reach the highest pitch of actuality, because only thus can the appearance of a complete life be created, so intuition tries to encompass the greatest possibilities, since only through the awareness of possibilities is intuition fully satisified.” Just take a look at his quotations for instance; “There are a dozen more poles at my disposal. I could bury you in the earth if I wanted..or expose you to the blast of an exploding bomb. It’s that easy!” -To Atsushi. “You agency people are living testaments to justice. Frankly, your sparkle mesmerizes me. The Decay of the Angel's plan is the true embodiment of evil. That's what makes it worth assisting in! It's time to break out of this prison! The inherent brain-washing we call morality! I seek freedom for my soul more than any kind of joy!! So listen to the screams of my own free will!” -To ADA “Here comes a philosophical conundrum! Even if I had Dos-kun killed, That merely shows the “Free Will” is part of my instinct, yet it doesn’t demonstrate anything else but simple Animal affections?! I have been bewildered over this question and finally I came up with a solution!, simultaneously fulfilling “Rescuing my dear friend Dos-Kun” along with my intention to kill “Dos-kun.” and this is an excellent plan that I have!” It appears more Ne than Se for him. Another thing I want to mention Ne users can also be “Impulsive” (I personally don’t think that word could be properly connected to any function completely) However if you have any objection with what I’ve said, feel free to leave a comment. My concern is that I haven’t seen a properly convincing Se dom argument. People have also said he has a good intuition function, then why vote it in an inferior spot, though?
