She is one of the best representations of SO2 in fiction, and I’m gonna explain why. "𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡. 𝙄𝙨𝙖𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙖 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙩. 𝙄𝙨𝙖𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙖 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙣𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙥𝙖𝙬𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙢𝙚. Placed on the gut triad, this enneatype feels deeply connected with their body, instincts and their sense of justice, converting it into an apparent and shameless lust: a constant need for thrilling physical stimulation, opposed to an evident avoidance of subjectivity, inwardness or a sentimental approach to life in general. E8 is direct, openly deceitful and frequently denies nuances or subtlety when dealing with relationships, after all, this would mean they’re what they despise the most: weak, vulnerable and prone to fear. When applying the passion of lust to the self-preservation instinct, which Isabella is voted as, we would have a person who’s mainly focused on survival through the satisfaction of their material needs and, consequently, neglecting the needs of the other. This subtype is opposed to the necessity of solidarity, related to the SO8 - the “social anti-social” who vindictively fights in the name of the oppressed ones, reinforcing the duty of a non-ideological activist, often attributed to this subtype. In the end, none of these subtypes truly fit Isabella. Since the beginning of the narrative, she’s introduced as someone who’s extremely subtle and aware of the emotional atmosphere: a master manipulator who can express feelings in an indirect manner to conquer what she desires. Isabella is by no means vindictive against traditional education and societal standards, or someone who expresses an explicit lust. In fact, she wouldn’t have reached the position she was if she was openly deceitful, blunt or impulsive. On the other hand, she can control her impulses, adapt her emotions, and strategically move in the environment to find the best opportunities. She appropriates the norms as a means to reaffirm her grandiosity. I can see more 1 fix than 8 fix tbh, she seems more fixated on resentment and the idea that others and herself can’t attain the ideals of perfection, rather than someone who’s deeply moved by a destructive sense of justice. I also noticed some people are voting E3, which is unfitting for her, as well. Differently from Isabella, E3 will always be subservient to their parental figures, seeking an industrial and inauthentic image shaped by external parameters, which will always seem distant. In the SO3, this behavior pattern turns into a need to shine, while blindly following market demands; in the SP3, it turns into a need for security; and in the SX3, it turns into a need to be desirable, attractive and beautiful. Isabella doesn’t >feel< dependent or subordinated to any authority, since her major desire is to conquer and defeat the maternal figure. She already feels full, grandiose, capable of achieving anything and even manipulating the rules the E3 fiercely follows, truly enjoying herself and embodying the passion of pride. Why would she hide anything to others, if she’s already devoid of flaws? Now, recognizing E8 and E3 as implausible options, I'm gonna elaborate on SO2. When we get to know Isabella’s backstory, it becomes clear that she gave up the idea of being free from the oppressive environment the characters live in, denying her actual needs, inner desires and even the idea of love to fortify an idealized self-image and, eventually, conquer the place she deserves in society. This pattern in the SO2 is derived from a turbulent and insecure bond with the maternal or paternal figure, so this subtype aims to replace them, turning into the role they couldn’t look up to during childhood. Applying this to Isabella’s case, the Grandmother represents this bond, as someone who hurt and manipulated for her own benefit, so she crystallized the anger and remorse she felt.
