Norman MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Norman? Norman is an INFJ personality type in MBTI, 1w2 - so/sp - 152 in Enneagram, RCOAI in Big 5, LII in Socionics.

I don't think Norman is Phleg-Mel. At most, Mel-Phleg makes more sense, but I think it is reasonable for him to be Mel [Dom] too. • First, Melancholic Key Characteristics: ↳ "Be deep-thinkers and feelers who often see the negative attributes of life, rather than the good and positive things." ↳ "Have a cautious, tentative response designed to reduce tension in an unfavorable environment." ↳ "Be highly creative in activities such as art, literature, music... they long to make a significant and lasting difference in the world." ↳ "Have a high degree of perfectionist tendencies... They are serious, purposeful, analytical, musical, artistic, talented, creative, self-sacrificing, conscientious, idealistic, philosophical, and are genius prone." ↳ "Be highly organized, schedule oriented, economical, tidy, neat, detail conscious, finish what they start, like charts, graphs, figures and lists, see the problems and are able to identify creative solutions with ease." ↳ "Need reassurance, feedback, and reasons why they should do something." ↳ "Their analytical personality’s desire caution and restraint, best at attending to details and in analyzing problems too difficult for others" • Second, Phlegmatic Key Characteristics: ↳ "Passive in both favorable and unfavorable environments. They influence their environment by cooperating with others to carry out the task. They tend to not be highly ambitious and they tend to lack a sense of urgency (both due to their passive nature)." ↳ "Introverted, calm, unemotional, easygoing, indecisive, patient, and agreeable." ↳ "Phlegmatics live a quiet, routine life free of the normal anxieties of the other temperaments. They avoid getting too involved with people, and life in general, preferring a private, low-key life-style" ↳ "Strongly resist change. They need time to adjust when change does occur, especially sudden change." ↳ "Avoid conflict (which is why they are so accommodating). They resist making quick decisions. ↳ "Practical, concrete, and traditional thinkers. Their stoic expression often hides their true feelings. They can be grudge holders. ↳ "Can be patient to the point of paralysis. They are persistent, and consistent, at whatever they undertake. Because of their passive nature, they tend to procrastinate easily and often." • Next, understand that Melancholies are "driven by the need to do things right," where as Phlegmatics are "driven by the need to accommodate others." Melancholies are detail-oriented, while Phlegmatics are needs-oriented. • I do see some characteristics of Phlegmatism in Norman, such as being patient, agreeable, and also orientation towards the needs of others. However, in the end I think his drive to do what's "right" for his family outweighs his drive to accommodate others. • Mel traits I see in Norman: I can see that he is a deeply analytical thinker, obviously, but what's beyond that is his inclination to adhere to organized planning, his cautiousness, and his orientation to detail. In contrast to Phlegmatics, who have a passive nature towards the things they attend, we clearly don't see that in Norman. In the strategies and plans he executes, he's extremely cold and calculative. There isn't as much urge in him to accommodate to other people's feelings. He even goes to the point of *ignoring* Emma and Ray's plea for him to escape on his own first. Norman may have a phlegmatic persona upfront, but we can see he almost always goes by his own thinking in the end. He believed that what he was doing, sacrificing himself, was the "right" thing to do for the rest of the orphans to have a higher chance of escaping. There's really nothing passive in the nature of Norman. He's consistently extremely purposeful in whatever he decides to execute - whether that's planning the orphan's escape from Isabella's farm, or the experimental farm. • Phleg traits I don't see in Norman: I really can't see that he's the type to "avoid conflict," at all. Honestly, he fits the Melancholic description of being "rigid." He always has a very strong will and vision of where he wants to go with things and rarely accommodates. He did compromise his original escape plan in S1 to include everyone in the escape plan, but that was mostly because Emma wanted to. In S2 we also see he loses that accommodating-ness since he grew even more hard-willed. Phlegmatics, in this case, are much more likely to be passive about their opinions, and not act like Norman, who just went "frick your views, imma do **!* my way" in both the orphanage escape plan and demon genocide...
