Coriolanus "Coryo" Snow MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Coriolanus "Coryo" Snow? Coriolanus "Coryo" Snow is an ENTJ personality type in MBTI, 3w2 - so/sp - 368 in Enneagram, in Big 5, LIE in Socionics.

[1/2] ✮ : 𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐎𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐔𝐒 𝐒𝐍𝐎𝐖 𝐚𝐬 𝐒𝐎𝟑 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐈, Enneagram. 𝐢. EIGHT CORE | VENGEANCE [“The over-justice maker character is always concerned with justice. He is concerned with whether justice is correct or not in everything. He is never going to find strict justice outside. And if he does not find strict justice, he will not start anything outside. Inside, he will judge himself until it really hurts.”] The lack of e3 votes honestly doesn’t surprise me, so I am here to explain why Coriolanus Snow is the social 3 of all social 3s. The enneagram system on its own has tons to do with background, childhood, motivations, and fears. With the lack of information about President Snow in the original Hunger Games movies, it could be easy to identify him as e8. However, we now have both the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes book and movie. That being said, there might be a few spoilers for the new book and movie so please keep that in mind. To debunk type 8, I want to look at the ego structure. Type 8s are fixated on vengeance and bringing justice to a perceived injustice. Like I said, this could make a lot of sense for the original Hunger Games movies. President Snow obsesses over making the lives of certain victors absolutely miserable after they defy his power. Snow killed Haymitch’s family, trafficked Finnick and tortured Peeta to get to Katniss. However, in the midst of all of this we need to think about what Snow is attempting to do through these acts, and that is protect his image and keep his power. As we know, 8s are located in the gut triad (the triad center built on impulse and anger) and 3s are located in the heart triad (the center built on image and shame). A type 8 individual does not practice vengeance for the sake of protecting their own image, they would instead act out of anger or impulse which is not what Snow is doing. There’s always a deeper motive when it comes to his actions, and like I said, that is protecting his power. Before I go into my social three explanations, I also want to brush over the childhood messages that are received by types 8 and 3, especially since we know a lot more about Snow’s background now. Childhood is essentially the basis for enneagram and though these messages can vary, each individual from a given type will receive a message along somewhat of the same lines. The message that e8s somehow picked up as children is, “it is not okay to be vulnerable or weak” or “you can’t trust others because that always brings betrayal”. Yes, a lot of Snow’s childhood took place in the first war and it would make sense for him to feel like he can’t be “weak”. However, when compared with the e3 childhood message, e8’s does not seem as likely. The childhood message that an e3 might have picked up is somewhere along the lines of, “it is not okay to fail” or “it’s not okay to not work hard”. Snow’s family was living in poverty because of the war which is a very unique situation because typically people that reside in the Capitol are very very wealthy. Snow did not have this privilege, and in order to fit in among his peers he had to work extremely hard to live up to the standards he believed were set for him. He didn’t want anyone to be aware of his home life because it was damaging to his ego. Because of this, Snow began to realize that it’s impossible for him to let go of control and not work hard. He must always protect his image and he must always be in control because that’s all he’s ever known. He realized that by being in control he was able to climb the ladder of power, even if it meant completely abandoning any moral judgment he had left.

Biography

Coriolanus Snow was a tyrannical president of Panem. In his youth, he was known by the nickname Coryo, originally given to him by Tigris. Before becoming president, he attended the Academy in the Capitol, where he mentored the winning tribute of the 10th Hunger Games. He later moved on to advanced military studies at the University. He also served a brief stint in the Peacekeepers, demonstrating such aptitude that he tested successfully for an elite program to become an officer with the Peacekeepers, though ultimately he did not pursue this path. While attending the University and studying advanced military strategy, he also served as an apprentice Gamemaker, quickly instituting several new reforms to the Games, including the creation of the Victors' Village. Snow had been raised on the belief that his family name meant prestige and power. His experience, however, was tempered by the fact that he was an orphan and the loss of his family's fortune. #NearPureEvils
