I love this movie so much! I found it so interesting how the entire film is about getting back in touch with Se and realizing not everything has to have a deeper meaning to it. Sometimes living on the surface (Se) will give people more fulfillment than going on this never-ending quest to find a singular spark. A spark a person may never discover since they're limiting themselves of everything else - all the other sparks of light flickering off in the distance, or even right in front of them. Nothing matters but this one thing (Ni) This is exactly what happens with Joe. He becomes so immersed in finding this one specific meaning, one sculpted especially for him. He's submerged in his own idealism. It doesn't get more Fi-Ni than that. With this movie, we learn sometimes true beauty lies not in some obscure, shrouded meaning, but the moment. Really freakin cool message. Also I agree with commenters saying he seemed almost like an Ni dom at first due to how obsessive he was with this grander purpose, his calling, and the abstractions of life rather than life itself. He dismissed the more ordinary parts of life because they weren't good enough - they happen every day, we'll see it a million more times, yeah so what. What's special? It was apparent pretty early on in the movie he's 100% Fi-Ni. The loop almost seemed inFiNite until he got in touch with his Se at the end and it was an awesome moment I also liked how there was almost a reverse effect compared to most other movies - how the main character will be moved and feel emotional while they're contemplating something that gives them a deeper meaning, usually something complex and more on the conceptual side. With Joe, we see him experiencing this sort of revelation during the scene he starts to appreciate the raw simplicity of life and all the beauty ingrained in it. a lot of it was brought about by his appreciation and admiration for 22's enthusiasm over the sensory world and the little miracles. And thus, the loop was broken amazing movie 1000/10
Biography
Joseph "Joe" Gardner is the protagonist of Disney•Pixar's 2020 animated feature film Soul. He is a jazz musician and middle-school teacher whose life took a turn after he accidentally (and literally) lost his, where he visited the Great Beyond as a result.
