What personality type is Darryl? Darryl is an personality type in MBTI, 8w7 - - 863 in Enneagram, in Big 5, in Socionics.
He is by far the toughest character in the movie to type. The way he treats Thelma as well as the landscapers at the top of the movie seems like that of a bossy, abrasive Te-dom but somehow I doubt he is much of a Te user. I've seen him typed as ESFP, ESTP, and ESTJ but none of those feel quite right. Thelma is the ESFP of the film and there is no way she and Darryl have the same MBTI. J.D. is ESTP and I don't think they're the same type either. The uniform cop who pulls them over is ESTJ but I don't think Darryl is one because compared to the cop and other ESTJs Darryl seems too messy and scatterbrained and bumbling to have that personality. ISTP is a possibility I guess. In some ways he comes across like a more toxic version of Frank Barone from Everybody Loves Raymond and that guy is an ISTP. But even that typing has flaws with it. He doesn't seem like an introvert. And insofar as he's a sensor he seems to have elements of both Si (fussing around with his hair, telling the cops to wipe their feet on the welcome mat before they come in) and Se(we see him kicking back in his Lazy-Boy and wife-beater eating, drinking and watching football when Thelma calls him plus he has a pinball machine). Don't really see any signs of intuitive thinking in him, either Ne *or* Ni.
