What personality type is Harlan? Harlan is an ESTP personality type in MBTI, 8w7 - - in Enneagram, in Big 5, in Socionics.
Se- He's a serial womanizer who likes to drink and dance and flirt with women. He responds readily to Thelma saying she's sick and takes her outside, where he kisses her, starts making the moves on her, and when she refuses to put out for him, beats her and tries to force himself on her. Ti- He thought process behind picking Thelma and Louise to hit on seems derived from some sort of subjective internal logic rather than anything that is objectively obvious to the audience. Fe- He has a good ol' boy charm and charisma and can easily read that Thelma is craving some male attention. He sees Thelma flirting with him, walks up to them, starts chatting them up, can tell Louise is not interested but that Thelma is, and consequently buys her a drink and invites her to dance. Ni- Insofar as as he seems to have any future vision for himself, it is presumably to bed as many women as possible, whether they consent or not. He has a tremendous sense of entitlement, which is why he has no remorse about assaulting anyone, and why he talks back to Louise, despite her pointing a gun at him, which needless to say seals his fate. How that ties into his function stack, if at all, I'm not sure. But his apparent thinking that Louise wouldn't dare shoot him is probably his individual Ti logic at play.
