2 because why? Where’s the pride….? 🙃 Edit: Pasting my comment from the Netflix character page here in hopes of reversing this blasphemous typing: The passion for 2 is PRIDE. So many people forget this way too easily. Pride in E2 manifests as an overinflation of self importance. Desiring to create relationships where people depend on you. Overestimating how much others require your help. Seeing yourself as another’s savior / redeemer / caretaker. Giving to get. Expecting others to meet your needs because you’ve met theirs. Needing to be needed. 2s are in the image triad. The drive is to live up to an idealized version of themselves as a charming, loveable person that others can’t live without. 2s are not passive, unassuming people who shrink into the background and smile sweetly. Certainly not so 2s. They’re far more forceful, present and even sometimes quite aggressive than people give them credit for. They ACTIVELY and INTENTIONALLY curate a specific image they project to others. With a dominant so instinct, this would manifest as an intentional “seduction” of groups. Finding out what the group needs the most and meeting that need, so in the end you can receive from the group the adoration to feed your pride that you require. So 2s are defined by their ambition to appear powerful and intellectual in front of others. This isn’t like Nick whatsoever. He way more closely resembles a so 9. The passion for 9 is sloth which manifests as an urge towards merging. With a dominant so instinct, it results in merging to a group. Defining yourself and basing your identity on your function within the group. Placing group needs ahead of yours. Prioritizing social harmony over self actualisation. The biggest struggle for 9s is to separate themselves from whatever they’ve merged with and figure out, on their own, what their individual passions, drives, motivations, wants and needs are. This is pretty much Nick’s greatest character arc and growth path and it’s obviously quite a struggle for him. He has very obvious challenges with asserting himself within the group and going against their wishes and is only able to after much effort. Before growth, the natural tendency for so 9s is to bypass the work of figuring out who you are on your own, and instead, outsource the responsibility of your identity to the group to tell you who you are. 2s can definitely struggle to know who they are as well since they’re so prone to getting caught up in people pleasing, but for a 2 the focus is on their image, while for 9s, the focus is on others and a sense of belonging. He’s not striving to seduce the group through charm, but rather to participate within it by not upsetting the balance.
