They go against danger assertively, and even aggressively, as a way of denying and coping with their (often unconscious) fear." this is exactly what Mona is like. she was afraid of Alison, and always was, even when Ali came back. you can see the fear on her face in the scene in church, when Alison said: "I made you loser Mona once and you know i can do it again". well, you know what happened next: Mona slapped her and the next day she showed the whole school an edited video of Ali slapping her instead and the wound on her cheek. Mona, like a sx6, turned against the fear and attacked instead. i don't think that E5 would be that aggressive. im not gonna retell how she became –A, but instead explain her motivations. "the best defense is a good offense" describes her motives perfectly. she wanted alison to be scared like she was once, to put her on her place. mona didn't want to be loser mona again. she wanted to intimidate. Biography
Born on October 8, Mona is a former loser who was tormented by Alison (yet still idolized her), Mona and Hanna became really close friends after Ali goes missing, and becomes the top popular girls of Rosewood High. She's witty and can be mean at times, but treats Hanna like a sister and seems to get along with the other Liars as well. The second season finale reveals that she's A, and she's sent to an asylum after being diagnosed as insane. She returns to school after "getting better" in the second half of season 3, but continues working with the second A all along, until she's betrayed in the season finale and almost burnt alive with the Liars. She is promoted to main character status in the fourth season.
