Personality

What personality type is James "Sawyer" Ford? James "Sawyer" Ford is an ESTP personality type in MBTI, 8w7 - sp/sx - 874 in Enneagram, SCUEI in Big 5, SEE in Socionics.

he’s such an obvious ESTP. i could understand someone voting ISTP off of maybe like season 1, because his Fe is probably the weakest there, but then again he’s not very healthy there. the way he uses Se and Fe to pick up on his environment & use that to manipulate others is masterful. the way he adapts to the dharma initiative, the way he manipulates kate & locke in 2x13, it’s all such an obvious use of SeTiFe. i think his Ni develops throughout the show as well, but he is someone who lives in the moment & adapts to whats in front of him (and i can’t see him having inferior Fe), so inf Ni makes the most sense imo. i don’t really get the ISFP votes…i mean inferior Te? where? he’s also not a Fi dom lol. just because he values certain things (like the dear mr. sawyer letter) doesn’t equal Fi dom. he really has no strong sense of morality that he expresses, he’s more willing to do what he needs to do to survive (& to protect the people he cares about). compare him to kate, who’s also a criminal, she is constantly telling him how despicable he is in s1 & along with that she makes most of her decisions based on what she feels is right in her eyes. i just really cannot see them being the same type. and the core 8 is obvious. yes, he does enjoy having fun & his 7 wing (& fix) are very strong, but he ultimately fears vulnerability & pushes people away who get too close. he’s extremely lustful throughout the entire show, gluttony doesn’t seem to be his vice at all. sp 8 makes the most sense imo.

Biography

James Ford, better known by the alias Sawyer, is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. His rural Southern accent, selfishness, machismo, and folksy use of oft-abrasive nicknames belied his sophisticated and tender sides as an avid reader and a caring lover—elements of his personality that started to become more apparent as he spent more time on the Island. #JoshHolloway
