Personality

What personality type is Jack Shephard? Jack Shephard is an ESTJ personality type in MBTI, 1w2 - so/sp - 126 in Enneagram, SLOAN in Big 5, LSE in Socionics.

i really struggle to see jack as a Fe user. i think people just see that he’s rash and emotional and equate that to Fe > Te. but the way he communicates is nothing like the way a Fe user does. he cares about keeping the group together & alive, not about maintaining social harmony. when he switches out the dynamite and puts it in his pack instead of kate’s in the season 1 finale, he justifies it by saying he’s the leader & he just made a decision it doesn’t matter that she doesn’t like it. he also says the same thing to sayid & charlie in 3x21 when they offer to swim to the looking glass. also jack is not really good at understanding people’s emotions. when claire thought aaron was infected in 2x15, he didn’t really try to look into that and brushed her off, same with when ethan was attacking her at night. he doesn’t really try to soothe people’s anxiety except in rare examples like his speech in 2x01 & the famous “live together, die alone” speech. when hurley opens up to him about the numbers & their curse, his initial reaction is to ask him about being in a mental hospital. he doesn’t really try to understand people nor does he really comfort them. i feel like an Fe user would listen to what hurley was saying & even if they didn’t believe him, they would try to comfort him in a way that wouldn’t make him angry. also he’s repeatedly told that his bedside manner sucks by multiple different people, on and off the island. he has a very direct way of communicating, and is very blunt. i really don’t think the votes should be between ESTJ and ESFJ, just because he’s concerned about others a lot doesn't make him an Fe dom. Te users can be super people-oriented as well. i think if the votes were between ESTJ and ISTJ, i would understand that more. i actually am considering ISTJ, because jack does not have good Ne at all in the first four seasons. when the writing starts going downhill, his character suffers immensely & changes completely. jack stops doubting everything and being the constant pessimist he is when it comes to the island. so inf Ne is hard to see when considering the last two seasons, and i do think he uses Te way way more than Si, his Si definitely supports his Te. ISTJ is a possibility, but for now i’m voting ESTJ. if someone has an argument for Fe > Te, i’m definitely open to it, i just personally can not see it rn

Biography

Dr. Jack Shephard, M.D., was an American spinal surgeon and the plane crash survivors' de facto leader. Before the crash, his obsessive personality wrecked his marriage and his relationship with his father. On the Island, though, the survivors sought his guidance during many crises and missions, and he united them until they cooperated and formed a society.
