What personality type is Gabimaru? Gabimaru is an ISTP personality type in MBTI, 5w6 - sp/sx - 954 in Enneagram, RCUEN in Big 5, SLI in Socionics.
[1/4] Gabimarus Enneatype How is gabimaru an e5, and worse, an sp5? i’ve seen far too many e5 mistypes on this app, for any character or real life person that seems cold or emotionless, they’ll immediately be typed as an e5. people claim that they dislike stereotypes, but will then turn around and use them to their “advantage,, if it even is one. ill split this argument into two parts. in the first part, ill explain why Gabimaru being 5 core isn’t a good fit. once that’s out of the way, I’ll move on to the second part and explain 9 core for him and then carry on to the subtypes + offering more perspectives. Start with [1/4], then [2/4], [3/4], and end at [4/4]. Part 1: Debunking E5 the 5 is a head type. this means that the 5 is fixated in the mental body. these are people who have a fear of fear. with this, the head types will live in the mind as a way to avoid fear, making them use their minds as a form of protection against what is perceived as a dangerous and threatening world. due to this, they are called the “doing,, group, as they are always dealing with a strong polarity between doing and trying to decide what to do. This means they’ll constantly be fixated on internal dialogue, dispassionate analysis, reasoning, cognitive ability, the expression of thoughts as a way to avoid fear. as a result, they will prevent themselves from taking clear, decisive action in the world around them. for the type 5 specifically, they will deal with fear by reducing life to manageable proportions, as they create peace through exclusion of the outside world. the type 5 can then be compared to a hermit in a cave who hides his posssesions in a little pouch and hoard onto such resources to avoid depletion. this will in turn lead to the passion of avarice, which characterizes the type 5. What does this mean? e5’s avarice is, simply put, a repression of oneself inside and out. according to claudio naranjo who brought the enneagram over to the west and can be credited for modern understanding of the types, this passion will make the e5 defend itself from impulsivity, leading to them falling into self-control from the world around them out of a fear that their energy will be exhausted and drained. the type 5 is afraid of wasting and dissipating their energy, do they economize, treasure and hold on to emotions, resources, themselves rather than indulging in and giving their whole being to life and people. this leads them into isolating themselves from the world and people, hiding in an “ivory tower,, as they repress the need to feel that he is loved, repress the need for friendship, love as well as the need to exist in the world. the e5 will then describe their life as a place and time of solitude, using intellectual knowledge as a way to fill the distance they feel in relationships and the world, which is something they will create themselves to protect themselves, as they are, deep down, hypersensitive with extremely delicate feelings. they don’t want to involve themselves in the world. this leads to a schizoid character who avoids affective contact and is disconnected from the action necessary to fully experience the world. leading to emotional illiteracy, the repression of impulses, and them not feeling the need for a bond Now, ask yourself, how does this fit gabimaru? when and where does gabimaru show a fear of wasting energy that makes him avoid and isolate from the world? when does he show the desire to ever ecomonize himself, resources, emotions and when does he show a forgetfulness of impulses, or any disconnection from the need for love and people? correct, he doesn’t fit any of this whatsoever. looking at this alone already kills the idea. throughout that first arc of hells paradise, we see that every action gabimaru takes is as a result of his goal to make it home, to come back and meet his wife after being away from her for such a long time. as a result of this, he is willing to completely open himself to life. constantly fighting, taking physical action and assertively going against anyone who stands in his way. he will move towards or against anyone, in contrast to the typical moving away, self-control, lack of desire to open oneself to life and isolation you’ll find in type 5. when he was supposed to be “executed,, by Sagiri, he resisted but once she talks about how much Gabimaru truly loves his wife, Gabimaru yells at her angrily. screaming, yelling, expressing his frustration fully and fighting. I don’t understand why a type 5, being characterized by emotional illiteracy, forgetfulness of impulses and the desire to move away from the world like a hermit holding its possessions in a cave would be like this. When we first see Gabimaru, he seems as if he’s accepted death, as if he doesn’t have any attachments to life or people. However, deep down, he’s resisting execution due to his love for his wife. To him, his wife makes life worth living and he dedicates every fight and action to meet her again.
Biography
Gabimaru (画が眉び丸まる), is an elite shinobi assassin formerly from Iwagakure and the holder of the infamous alias, Gabimaru the Hollow (がらんの画眉丸, Garan no Gabimaru). He served as Iwagakure's most infamous shinobi until he was betrayed by his village for wanting to abandon his role as a murderer and live a peaceful life with his wife, resulting in him being handed over to the authorities to be executed. In exchange for his immunity Gabimaru accepts the invitation to be a part of the competition mission in order to reunite with Yui and live the life he so desired. Gabimaru is calm, level-headed and rarely shows any emotions. He is calm to the point where he is unfazed by any sort of crisis, such as being executed or when he is confronted and attacked by a strong enemy. As noted by Sagiri, once Gabimaru calms down he tends to complain. He prefers to stick with his main objective at hand and not get tangled with anything else that doesn't involve his goals.
