What personality type is Sam Winchester? Sam Winchester is an INFJ personality type in MBTI, 6w5 - sp/so - 641 in Enneagram, RCOAI in Big 5, EII in Socionics.
People who say Sam is an ISFJ have no idea about cognitive functions at all. Let's break it down alright. Sam uses his Se, he uses it often. Sam likes doing physical activities, let's be real. If hunting wasn't important for him, Sam would be using his Se often. In reality, if Sam was really an Infj, his Ni would overpower his Se. Until he can learn how to train his mind for that. Se's usually see details everyone misses. How many times has Sam noticed little things, and then done research on it? His Ni made it seem like "Wait, this doesn't look right. Maybe I should check it out." His Se made it like "Wait, what's that over there?" When it comes to being able to notice little details, analyzing his surroundings, and there's even episodes where he notices suspicious things in the background & later researches it. This can often be minimized due to a strong Ni. I recently watched the episode in s8 with the greek gods. Sam used his intuition in this episode when he noticed that the two gods had some sort of romantic feelings himself. Dean even asked "How did you know?" and Sam responded "I don't know. Intuition? Luck?" Sam used his Se and his Ni to work together, and put two & two together. Sam seems to use his intuition a lot. People might think "oh but he had no idea ruby was evil". Intuition doesn't mean you literally know when someone's untrusting or not. Intuition is the little things, it's when you rely on past moments to compare it to the present. It makes you think "no, something's not right." Anyways, there are many other episodes Sam uses his Ni. We already know he's an external feeler, he is the most empathetic, caring, and he focuses more on other's feelings than his own. Sam is one to sense when someone's sad or upset or angry. He never talks about his own feelings, but he likes talking about others. Which is common in the INFJ community. Ti is obvious. Sam makes decisions based on logic, and reasoning. He uses it often, when it comes to hunts, and even conversations he has with his brother. He can often turn an emotional conversation to a logical one very fast. During arguments he tends to bring logic into his thinking. Such as when he made the decision to go with Ruby. His logic said " The point is we kill Lilith and that's all." Anyways, people who say Sam's personality type changes throughout the seasons, it's not possible. No one's personality type can change throughout life. Sure trauma can form a person and change them to be different. But Sam was 22 when supernatural started. His personality was formed already, he just got older. So please, Sam is not an ISFJ.
