You all down there really mixing up loyalty to family with Fi, huh? In ancient China, filial piety was a core element of Confucianism and that's what Mulan is about (well, originally). Mulan doesn't go to war to follow her heart, she goes to war because it doesn't make sense to her that her old, wounded father has to sacrifice himself when she is an able-bodied young woman, in spite of what society thinks about her gender. Loving your family =/= Fi. Oh and not to mention the entire conflict is about Mulan trying and failing to use her inferior Fe, only to discover that her TiSe combo is what makes her unique (such as when she aims the cannon at the mountain and creates the avalanche). What an inspiration for us IXTP's.

Biography

Fa Mulan is the titular protagonist of Disney's 1998 animated feature film Mulan. She is the strong-willed and tenacious daughter of a war veteran, who strives to uphold her family's honor. When her father is called back into battle to defend China from Shan Yu, Mulan opts to protect him by taking his place under the disguise of a male soldier named Ping. Mulan is inspired by the legendary Hua Mulan. She is the eighth official Disney Princess, the only one not to be of royal lineage either by birth or marriage. She is the last Disney Princess to be developed during the Disney Renaissance.
