Personality

What personality type is Lim Soo-Ho? Lim Soo-Ho is an INFJ personality type in MBTI, 6w5 - so/sx - 684 in Enneagram, RCUEI in Big 5, in Socionics.

He's such an infuriatingly complex character, but having taken a few things into account, I'm of the opinion he's an INFJ. His Fe isn't even off if you pay attention (as I see it). I genuinely don’t think he's even looping. He's just under very particular circumstances/stresses. You can see his Fe in his ability/willingness to be a social chameleon. As a spy, he excels at this. At the beginning of the series (if you watched the bonus scenes) he's seen being kind to Kwang-tae, an SK native, SINGING and cooking for him to congratulate him. Consider, he had nothing to actually gain by doing this. It was just him being genuinely nice to a friend for its own sake. Which is how we can assume he is when he isnt under the pressure of his patriotic responsibilities. Gyeok-chan, a Fi-user, would NEVER lol. When Young-ro asks Soo-ho if he’s got a talent that he could maybe use to pay her back with, he panics and lies to her because he has real feelings for her, but lacks the will to act sensibly enough on them because of the conflict of interest within him. Even then, he’s so kind to her before all hell breaks loose. When his comrades join him and the hostage situation begins, his behaviour turns on its tail to suit the image fostered in his home as to be able to control them and make them continue to believe he is the leader they’ve always known. The priority shifts because, as far as he’s concerned, the hostages (i.e. Young-ro) are under their complete control and won’t act out and get themselves killed so long as he maintains this image on their behalf as well as his comrades’. Suddenly he’s very mean to Kwang-tae, who he was friends and shared a dorm with. Textbook chameleon Fe when under social pressure. There’s a more pressing need for him to use his NK ego than there is to be the nice person he really is because if that mask cracks, there will be even more conflict than there already is. Fi wouldn’t be that turbulent in its moral decision-making process. That said, he is very conflict-avoidant, even in the nightmare scenario they’re currently in, he’s always trying to maintain a line of peace between the hostages and the kidnappers. It takes him a while to put his foot down when Gyeok-chan acts out. He speaks with him in order to try and smooth things out and not antagonise him, using logic to try and reason with his fiery nature. But when Gyeok-chan goes too far, he risks making an enemy of him and physically dominates him, in effect using the language Gyeok-chan understands as a se-aux. As for Ni, Soo-ho introspects a lot. His Ti and Ni work in tandem I think. He tends to take a lot of time to contemplate what the bigger picture is and what’s going on where he doesnt have all the details, trying to understand why NK would tell SK X information and if it’s actually what they mean since that went wrong before etc etc. The moral conflict we see him going through trying to protect Young-ro and still be loyal to his home seems very Ti to me. A subjective way of creating order in a moral dilemma that seems to contradict itself by nature but creates room for accommodation. He’s INFJ. He’s also paired with a foil that inverses his functions perfectly: Young-ro is Ne+Fi+Te+Se. He’s Ni+Fe+Ti+Se. They’re a perfect match lol. If only they weren’t so completely and utterly doomed.
