he’s the typical textbook INTP 5w6 character. Often there in movies as the main character’s only access to info and resources they haven’t considered before. bonus points if the main characters around him used to tease and make fun of the INTP 5w6 character for the things that will later be very necessary to them. ever since I’ve gotten into mbti, I’m now able to see the pattern between characters like this; INTPs. I see where the ne is with their obsessive way of connecting multiple things together and seeing patterns others don’t recognize. also with how they see patterns that people should’ve seen, since if they did, the trouble they notice would’ve been stopped a long time ago; thanks to the wing 6. it must be noted that Ni is also a function that very prominently noticed patterns, but they do so with an end objective in mind. It narrows down all possibilities until they find the exact one that suits their needs. INTPs with their Ne don’t care about finding only one possibility at the end of the day. They’re fine resting on multiple ideas and possibilities. sam very much is that kind of person. dont have much to say about his character. obviously since he’s a 5, especially with a wing 6, he’s not gonna show (and pls notice I say the word “show” not “have” there is a huge difference) emotions, especially when he doesn’t have to. very chill. very laid back. the scene where he says that line about smth like “up up down down” (a video game technique he learned that works in all video games) and says how he always says that to himself whenever he feels stress at school is very much 5w6. but also that broke my heart a little. the trope of the male nerd character always ending up getting some kind of sexual or romantic gratification from the popular girl (who on any other day would not take notice of interest in him at all) needs to die down. I feel like that was inspiration of the films that this trilogy was inspired by though, and I have a feeling the director knows very well of the tropes from movies like that. last thing, funny how he’s basically his sister’s enneagram but backwards
