Shiina Mahiru: ESFJ argument. Introduction : —— I wasn’t sure if I wanted to make an argument just yet but whatever, I love Mahiru and seeing her typed as an ESFP is almost irritating ww, this argument isn’t as complete as I would like, but I do hope it serves as help :) I explain my ideas further about why Mahiru is Fe>Se after comparing both dominant functions and what they value. Comparing Se dominant and Fe dominant. (credits to mbti notes for some of these!) * FE focus: interpersonal relationships and their state of harmony. * SE focus: observing and acting on sensory data as it comes in. ——— Mahiru values the feeling aspect more than any kind of sensory aspect. I doubt anyone can argue against this; her main passion is “to find love”, and it’s not even a sudden and spontaneous approach to love; Mahiru knows exactly what she wants and needs when it comes to her partner, and she has idealized the romantic aspect of relationships so much it’s unreal. * FE maintains an actively harmonizing approach to life, looking to adopt objective standards (social rules/values) that can avoid negative social consequences * SE maintains a flexible response-ready approach to life (takes an action, observes immediate results, makes physical adjustments, acts again) —— “If you don’t forgive me, there’s no reason for me to live.” Mahiru values harmony above all. She is the peacemaker of the group, always trying to elevate the atmosphere and lighten up the mood. She utilizes emotional responses and breakdowns when her actions are denied in order to manipulate us (the viewers) subconsciously, guilt-tripping by threatening her own suicide if we are to vote her guilty. In other words, Mahiru utilizes Fe unhealthily when she needs to manipulate people, and otherwise uses Fe to make sure everything is in place and harmonious. She finds comfort in the societal norms about love and readily accepts them. * FE defines social relationships in terms of fulfilling promises, duties, and obligations to one another * SE defines social relationships in terms of “doing” (experiencing and sharing activities together) —— I dont know if I need to elaborate for these last two because for me, Mahiru fits more into the Fe description without question. “I was happy to get hurt, let’s have matching pain, this sickness really hurts” Mahiru NEEDS for her partner to feel the exact same way she feels, to embrace love and everything about it. She needs for them both to cherish love or else she feels disappointed and hurt. Even then, Mahiru adores the negative aspects of love and sees them as necessary, thus conforming to societal rules. For Mahiru, it’s important for both her partner and her to be *serious* about their relationship, and on the same level. * FE inspires people by being the focal point of issues about collective well-being, especially in times of social fragmentation or hardship * SE inspires others by being the focal point of people’s admiration —— “Everyone… I love you all” Do I even need to explain? Even from the silly Minigram comics, Mahiru is portrayed as an airheaded mood maker who wishes for everyone to be safe and happy, accepts their shortcomings and wishes to be social and friendly to everyone. She maintains a positive attitude and tries to comfort the prisoners by being lighthearted and curious about them. ~ I wish this was of help to at least one of you!
