(Flowing Nightglow) SP4 Robin is an unpopular take compared to the focus people have on the self-forgetting aspect of her character. However there’s a different part of Robin that I’d like to explore more, and thus understand this usual perception of her; a Robin that parallels the flawed, weak and abandoned Charmony Dove, as in a bird trapped in a cage, but even so denies that this is where it should stay. And derived from the value in that initial state of lack and deprivation it denies that it will crash to its death and that it’s capable of looking for something better, surviving through a seemingly immutable faith as ends towards a path of true happiness. "...the Harmony will guarantee that the strong help the weak. Only the people of Penacony themselves can be the saviors of their homeland. Their path of happiness should be forged by themselves" (Quest) Robin is distinguished by her noblesse oblige philosophy, the strong and privileged defending the weak. Depending on how Robin's backstory and life is interpreted she can be seen as self-forgetting and altruistic, however when has she truly merged herself with the environment and its demands? Robin has strong convictions beyond being kind and helpful, she believes in the power of will and value within humans to save themselves and 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲𝘀, 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆. This just doesn't fit the nature of Gut types, who compensate in the physical world for their existential emptiness, neurotically “unable to see” the subtleties of the physical environment and who are far more impulse-driven by ego structure. “Back then I held a naïve hope, that people 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗶𝗺𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗺𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 would be able to find a shelter, but… But no matter how the world changes, my wishes will never change.” (Character story) “The emotional state of envy involves a painful sense of lack and a craving toward that which is felt lacking; the situation involves a sense of goodness as something outside oneself which needs to be incorporated [...] The E4 reads the painful feeling of this deficiency as an injustice” (Naranjo) If Robin describes her life as a song (read in her character stories), then Robin has been an everlasting song to those who have lost hope, to those who suffer and wander lost and aimless like Robin has felt, regardless of the comfort of her position and popularity, just as regardless of the utmost ideal care towards a dove, it still remains frail and flawed. Even under the protection of The Family, a seemingly harmonious Dreamscape, the beautiful oasis it is, Robin is simply not satisfied with the immediate reality. For she knows that there lacks something, that she is trapped in what feels like a world of momentary illusions. “And should our feathers be damaged, then we share our wings with one another. There's 𝗻𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗸𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀, because we have the right and the ability... to fly towards a broader horizon.” (Quest) While I have to admit that we haven’t got enough depth to inquire in full extent the neurotic behavior of Robin, I could argue that Robin’s focus is not on being on the stage itself, seemingly merging with it and just participating, and instead it’s on those who lost hope, trying to save them and saving herself in return, as if trying to save the weak and frail dove which could as well be Robin. Thus Robin says, prays and sings to others in not losing themselves in the mundane and her philosophy in the inherent value, will, and ability of herself and others to forge their own path towards happiness and save themselves contradicts the indolence of E9, a fixation of laziness to fulfill the gut type’s physical needs. “This apparent motivation [participation] is, at heart, a distraction from his internal world that leads him to the realm of activities, although not always aligned with his true interests. He has learned to relate to the world as a way to escape its emptiness, existential life and the painful experience of not being seen and “not-being’” (La Pereza Psicoespiritual) All of Robin’s actions and decisions seem for me to always have in them the transcendental vision she has carried since the death of her mother, such as thinking that humans have the ability to reach "a broader horizon”, installing courage to those who have lost hope through songs, prayers and help. Thus Robin is unwilling to partake in things that don’t align with her convictions, keeping steadfast to her values above just her fame and being on stage.
