INFP argument!! *NOTE: I genuinely despise Elena haters and the amount of unfounded hatred she gets makes me loathesome. Do not bother replying if that is you.* Fi: her Fi is so obvious throughout the entire series that is mind boggling she would be confused for a Fe dom. Generally, Fi can be described as someone who implements their values and beliefs into every aspect of their life and holds to it no matter the cost. This is proven in S2 when Elena is choosing to sacrifice herself because she believes it’s what’s RIGHT according to her VALUESSSS. She doesn’t do this out of the need to appease other people’s needs or avoid conflict, which would lean more towards Fe. Instead, she never wavers no matter what anyone says to her because she is always going to prioritize her beliefs first. Her morals often conflict with Damon’s actions, especially towards the start of the show. Ne: this is where things can get confusing and tricky, but I will explain how Elena utilizes Ne rather than Ni. I think people are so overwhelming by Elena’s Fi it becomes hard to notice her other traits, and from the start she has evident Ne that can become drowned out by her Fi-Si. Instances of her using Ne: Elena immediately putting the pieces together and thinking outside of the box when one singular guy told her that he recognized Stefan, identifying patterns and coming up with the conclusion that’s he’s a vampire based on connecting the dots, NE USERS ALWAYS DO THIS! While Ni users can do this as well, it’s something that’s immediately noticeable in Ne users. I would also say the instance of her coming up with ideas to solve problems without much thought, as they seem to come to her head almost naturally. Also, her inability to adapt well to being a vampire is a fair indicator of a lack of Se. Se users tend to adapt much better to abrupt physical sensory changes than Ne users. I could explain further but Elena is clearly in a Fi-Si loop most of the time, (most of us can agree on her clear Si) so I’ll leave it there for now. I can fit her explain if anyone is interested.
