“That’s damn near impossible.” MBTI —> Si-Ne —o—> “He explains that he left the army because he didn't want to have to kill for a living, although Rex doesn't see it as Cut's choice to make since he swore an oath to the Galactic Republic.” (S2-E10): This is probably more reasonably explainable by one of the middle functions, but I think inferior Ne would make sense in the context of Captain Rex’s initial disposition towards Cut Lawquane because he more traditionally recognizes a Trooper’s duty to the Republic and initially dismisses external reasoning as to Cut abandoning his position. —> Si-Te —o—> “In an attempt to quiet the men, Rex takes Fives aside, urging him to help promote unity among the troopers. Despite Fives' assertions that Krell's strategies are too costly, Rex insists that it is their duty as soldiers to follow orders even at the cost of their own lives.” (S4-E8): The whole Umbara and Pong Krell arc presents a significant growth challenge for Captain Rex and a significant element to this is having his more “workaholic” nature and strict loyalty of Si-Te challenged as it is such blind obedience that causes the 501st to fall into Krell’s corrupt manipulation — ARC Trooper Fives’s own Ni-Te exposes Captain Rex’s own traditionalism and faulty sense of “honor”. —> Si-Fi —o—> “Fives becomes angry that Skywalker and Rex don't believe him, and insists the Chancellor is in on the plot, having told him in the medical bay that he had orchestrated it.” (S6-E4): By the time we reach Season 6, the situation with Pong Krell in Umbara sort of forced Captain Rex to come to terms with his tertiary Fi and find some more trust in his own sense of individualism, and such emotional sensitivity comes through when he and General Skywalker meet with the drugged Fives, Captain Rex himself caught in an emotional conflict with his empathetic bond with Fives and his loyalty to his General— perhaps having a greater willingness to listen and understand whilst General Skywalker has an auxiliary Fi disposition towards Fives for threatening Chancellor Palpatine. ENNEAGRAM —> 6 - Motivations and Fears —o—> “At that moment, Skywalker orders Rex to activate the explosives, despite the fact that the squad is still in the station.” (S1-E7): Early on, there is an evident anxiety that Captain Rex has when it comes to situations of authority and safety, such as the clear hesitance that grips his words when he speaks up otherwise, whether it be being questioned by General Skywalker about leaving Commander Tano alone to face General Grievous or his hesitance with setting off the bombs on the listening post, but his loyalty still comes through though. —> 6 - “Externalized” Anxiety —o—> “At that moment, Commander Fox comes through the door, and quickly slams the emergency alert button, and Ahsoka takes off down the corridors. As Fox is about to give a comlink alert with warning to shoot on sight, Anakin belays the order.” (S5-E18): Ugh, okay, I understand that the quote doesn’t specifically speak of Captain Rex’s involvement, but I’ll make a trite excuse to say it is contextually relevant to what I’m trying to get to — remember when Captain Rex communicated to the other Clones about Commander Tano having killed Troopers; I think it’s evident that there is doubt and anxiety in his words there as he knows that Commander Tano is better than maliciously slaughtering his brothers, but he has to preserve military procedure by communicating accordingly. —> 6 - Wing 5 —o—> “Rex says he has also known nothing but war, but without the Clone Wars, the clones would not exist.” (S7-E11): So, this sort of relates back to what Captain Rex spoke of at the end of Season 4’s “Carnage of Krell”, questioning the point of the war, thus tapping into more skeptical existentialism about the Clone Troopers’ purpose of existence, the only thing he ever knew was to remain loyal and dedicated to the purpose of the Republic, thus his remark about he and his brothers having “mixed feelings” about the Clone Wars.
