Richard is so difficult to type because of how unreliable he is as a narrator, and how difficult he makes it to focus objectively on what's going on. He even says it himself in the first sentence, he romanticizes pretty much everything except for himself. But, I definitely see Ne. When he's introducing himself to the Julian, he says the lies come so easily to him depending on what Julian is leading the conversation to. I see Ti-Ne in that, he looks to what Julian says to synthesize possibilities and create lies about his own childhood and interests.
