Javier probably out of all the people that sided with Dutch was the most conflicted about siding with him in the end. We can see how smart Javier actually is with his quips and metaphors about Mexico and America. Sadly like Dutch he overlooked the facts and reasoning for what he valued and that was his loyalty specifically his loyalty to Dutch, he consumed a whole lotta copium in that moment. Another thing that probably impacted his decision could be him going crazy in chapter 6, he was coping so unbelievably hard in chapter 6, he harassed anyone that showed a glimpse of doubt towards Dutch and I think he did it because he knew that Dutch was losing it and he desperately didn't want to believe it. Because of that he was trying to find out who was the rat which I believe was well known in the gang that they have a traitor among them and he felt that had to find the rat because that would explain why gang was falling apart and that It wasn't simply Dutch getting more sloppy, vengeful and egotistical. And well it was also probably because he didn't have enough time to look at the situation with a calm and collected attitude, my man barely caught his breath when the Pinkertons arrived.
