Grover Underwood MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Grover Underwood? Grover Underwood is an ISFJ personality type in MBTI, 9w1 - so/sp - in Enneagram, SLUAI in Big 5, SEI in Socionics.

9 months since my original comment, i'm way more informed about enneagram, and my opinion stays the same. on this happy ISFJ day, i'm insisting once again he is clearly an enneagram 6w7, with a 629 tritype. ✧ the basics of the enneagram six are its need for support, reassurance and security. it's the most anxious enneagram, since it isn't confident enough if it doesn't meet its desire. it may feel as if it can't trust itself, so it looks for support in others, such as authority or friends. "𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘢𝘶𝘭𝘵. 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘦𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘴𝘰." grover is a character who has a big growth. but at first, he is very fearful of authority, in this case, the council, and follows their word as law despite it being incredibly harmful to him and ignores what annabeth and percy may say, because he places this authority above them. so, something we can see them do is reassure grover, because he needs other people giving him 𝘢𝘯𝘺 sort of guidance in order to keep on going. ✧ the enneagram 6 during stress fades into a 3, making it way more afraid of failure and image and leading it to have traits of unhealthy 3. "𝘪 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘪 𝘸𝘢𝘴, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨." an important part of grover's fear during book 1 is, in fact, failing. the grief from thalia's death sent him into this stress. his character arc during the lighting thief is growing past that and reaching the acceptance stage of loss. “𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘺, 𝘪 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵 𝘨𝘰 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘱 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘯. 𝘪 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵. 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵, 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶? 𝘪 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘧 𝘐 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘭. 𝘪 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧.” it's not until book 4, in which he is in a depressive state, that the rather big chance of failing is once more on his mind. it is just displayed in a different way than the one we see in the lightning thief. ✧ on the other hand, grover's full character arc is a perfect representation of an enneagram 6 growth. when we first know him, he's incredibly anxious and self-doubting, relying on the council and his friends for everything. hell, what pushed his growth in the first place was literally just a conversation with percy and annabeth. the stress and the constant mistreating from authority didn't give him a chance to develop for years, turning him into a naturally unhealthy 6. however, as the story goes on, we learn he is very courageous despite his many fears, because he learns to push through and takes risks despite being scared of practically everything. and it is this determination what makes him the one who in the end finds pan and carries his spirit. after many years, he 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴 the authority and guide, and he does it 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭, no matter how overwhelmed he may be, and not following the wrong advice of the previous authority he had once believed so much. the burning maze is set 2 years and a few months after the last olympian, and it's the first appearance we have of grover after seven books, with a brand new perspective. apollo does not know grover in the way percy knew him, and only remembered him as a nervous person he had met years before. so the confidence he displays is much more of a shocking change, both for lester and for the reader! who would have thought the guide and leader of this book would be grover and not percy like the fanbase 𝘴𝘰 much wanted?? (please let percy have a break from books. he's not just fan service material.) but in all seriousness, grover's 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 described as the guide of the protagonists and leader of the dryads. we also see many characters mention this growth; "he looked (...) nothing like the little runty boy i used to defend from bullies at yancy academy." - percy, tlt. "“𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘺,” grover told them. "𝘸𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘭 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘶𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰. 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘧𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴." / "𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭," annabeth said to me, "𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘮𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘶𝘱."" - botl. "i would not have imagined grover underwood as a leader. nevertheless, as he spoke, all the other nature spirits gave him their full attention." - apollo/lester, tbm. and this, leadership and sharing their desired support with other people, is a sign of a truly healthy e6. despite still keeping his jumpy, sheepish (..goatish?) and overall silly personality, he's learnt to control his nervousness and fears (just like it goes into an unhealthy 3 under stress, the 6 grows into a healthy 9!) and share the support he's always needed with other people. of course, i cant expect much. grover may be 𝘮𝘺 favourite character, but i doubt many people will even come onto this page, or read this entire analysis, so he might keep the 9 mistype for long.
