[1/9] 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐎𝐍𝐄: 𝐋𝐘𝐍𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐄'𝐒 𝐓𝐈 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐃𝐄𝐁𝐔𝐍𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐄 “Like with extraverted sensation, this function is concerned with objective denotation, but now its interest is in judgment, instead of perception. It actively assigns, labels, and categorizes, and these judgments are based upon what is objectively manifest. Its conclusions are drawn from facts and evidence divorced from any subject. It is empirical science. Nothing is real until it provides observable results, or makes good on its promises." Extroverted Thinking derives an objective world formula filtered from completely external systems like proven logic, proven standards, or proven data. Everything is judged by relative effectiveness and external impact. As long as something objectively matches an outside system’s definition, not the individual’s own logical definition, then a positive judgment can be formed. The judgment of a high Te user is usually heavily colored by external, more “abstract” influences. Everything must be proven and thus empirical to Te. Lynette completely does not rely on anything like an objective formula to understand anything around her. There is no external hierarchy or ideas that she is reliant on for her judgment. Instead, she’s reliant on an internal system of logic to rationalize her thinking and her external situation. > “The introvert of the thinking-type also takes his systematized experience as his guide; but here the emphasis falls on the inner aspect, thus on the need for objective order and on laws and principles, according to which experience is generally systematized. Abstraction of that part of conscious experience which is revealed as constant and subject to general rules is regarded by the introverted thinker as something of vital significance. He tries to arrange the opinions which he takes over from others in a system of his own. In doing so, he will take up a more critical attitude in regard to the thought-material which he is taught than do extraverted thinkers, and his aim is to follow the guidance of his own opinions and convictions.” Introverted Thinking is an introverted judging function inclined towards subjective means of logic and thinking. Logic is formed through experiencing the world through subjective analysis, calculation based on internal standards and searching for inconsistencies in reasoning through a form of “trouble-shooting”. Every judgment made by a Ti-user is filtered heavily through internalized logic systems and individual requirements. → “Remembering what type of food to put in each compartment, how to set the meal times and portions—it was more convenient for her to prepare the cat food by hand every day. Besides, if even feeding was entrusted to the machine... Lynette squatted next to the “non-automatic" feeding machine, stroking the well-fed cats' fur while silently pondering. How could she teach these children properly if she couldn't even feed them herself?” If we are simply going by the simplified definition of Te being “efficiency and results”, surely this quote displays her complete lack of appreciation for these values. The automatic feeding machine, objectively, is a reliable and repetitive means to complete the task of feeding her cats. However, by Lynette’s definition of efficiency going by a set of internally logical questions that reflect her personal beliefs as well, the feeding machine is not at all efficient. But this is not Te simply because she believes that it is more efficient to prepare by hand than following the procedure– in fact, this statement directly contradicts itself because a Te user, in this exact scenario, would use the machine because an objective system– whether the instructions, the external system, the authority figures around them– has proven that this is efficient. However, to Lynette, she doesn’t use it because she believes it is less efficient. It is a matter of external versus internal influences on rational logic.
