What personality type is Gorou? Gorou is an ISFJ personality type in MBTI, 6w7 - so/sp - 612 in Enneagram, SCOAN in Big 5, in Socionics.

Yes, ESTJs can be soft, but ISFJs can be smart and efficient as well (will explain ISFJ > ESFJ later). Look at Fe and Te as decision-making functions nonindicative of intelligence or compassion. If anything, Fe can be as objective as Te solely because they are both extraverted judging functions, consciously adapting to external objective data. Gorou's external and social focus has always been value-based and relational. His priority is to communicate with his fellow officers and set an example. Yes, it forces him to present himself as smart and logical, but this decision was based on what he and his comrades value. Doing this helps Gorou establish a social system of camaraderie wherein relationships boost morale and encourage each other. Since Fe and Te are both extraverted judging functions, it can be easy to mistake one or the other, since they tend to overlap. But by spotting Gorou's cognitive patterns, he has an obvious preference for camaraderie, morale, communication, and trust. His final decisions are anchored towards keeping a social system that benefits him and the troops. Not saying he doesn't use Te or Fi occasionally, but there's a very clear consistent pattern of wanting to maintain an image and being perceived as reliable. You can't justify one action and label it as representative of a whole (i.e., Gorou likes his tail clean = Fi). The entirety of his personality is consistently Fe-Ti. I initially voted ESFJ because of his blatant reliance on Fe, but now that I think about it, Gorou has a very idealized system subjective to him that he wants to achieve. He has stronger Si than Fe, and he uses Si in conjunction with his judging functions (Si-Fe and Si-Ti) to establish a set of values and reasoning that's consistent rather than purely adaptive. ExFJs lean towards adapting to external objective data, while IxFJs adapt mainly when it's necessary as they prefer maintaining consistency. This is why Gorou insists on being a role model. He looks to himself and picks out valid criticisms that he could improve on and maintain an image that not only is ideal to others, but is also logically consistent to his line of reasoning. Also, just because he's Ne inferior doesn't mean he has "no ideas." This notion of inferior = nonexistent should really stop. You don't go to an ISxJ and tell them that they're not imaginative. They are but that's not their top priority nor is it their conscious affinity. Every person you meet in real life is, in a sense, "creative." Therefore, surprise, surprise! Everyone has Ne. We're looking at patterns here, not just the one instance that Kokomi says that Gorou makes "creative strategies." The Si-Ne imbalance is meant to portray Gorou's overreliance on subjective sensory data over objective contextual data. He's actively familiarizing his relationships and the strategies he employs in battle. Read through his story and voicelines and you'll notice how often he emphasizes the need to be ready for anything and to organize the sensory. Since it's an imbalance, it comes with drawbacks, one of it being inferior Ne. That inferiority eventually comes off as Gorou having a hunch or idea of what may likely happen, but will end up resorting to tried and tested methods either way (e.g., encouraging troops' morale, training, Kokomi's tactics, etc.) Kokomi and Gorou's whole dynamic is that of Kokomi planning and Gorou organizing. It's obvious that there's a symbiotic relationship between them, with Gorou having the stronger Si-Fe tendency and Kokomi with Ti-Ne. Gorou trusts Kokomi to simulate the battle and Kokomi trusts Gorou to be ready and lead the army. This website types some smart people as INFJs, justifying it as "strong tertiary Ti" but can't reciprocate the same mindset when an intelligent Si and Fe user comes into play.
