What personality type is Maomao? Maomao is an INTP personality type in MBTI, 5w6 - sp/so - 593 in Enneagram, RCOEI in Big 5, in Socionics.
Painfully obvious. A fine example of an INTP female. Such a great cat. Love her. Maomao might try but it's kinda hard for her to fit in with the others, or peers, especially women. Women are even creeped out by her behaviour. Most men (in the context) doesn't give her the same treatment or respect they'd give other women because in their eyes, Maomao lacks the typical feminine qualities they're used to or are looking for in a women or potential partner. The cat is aware of this (partially, I guess?), and doesn't really mind. One example of this is Basen's or Lihaku's treatment of her, and their treatment towards other women. There so many instances of people around her sensing something's wrong with her (in their words) or should I say picking up something odd about her. People think she's weird. She's not an extrovert, and of course, not a feeler. She gets seeked out by people when they want her, and she helps them because she likes solving things. She has her owns sense of justice like any other person (from personal experience, an INTP, could possibly have.) I can tell she's no sensor; there are many predicaments where she is late to sense the stuff that have been going on around her. Her obsession with thinking and what she's interested in, her silences, (yes, she can be talkative when it comes to her interests, and no, I didn't say that extroverts cannot be silent for a few minutes. It's pretty visible she's an introvert *too sleepy to elaborate this* ,) her quirky nature, tendency to go beyond (without meaning to) to act like she wish despite being perceived as weird or inappropriate by others, and more often than not, her inability to recognise she's hurting others feelings by accidentally saying something she (which a bit later or never, she thinks) she shouldn't; all these together, and more, makes her relatable to me. I immediately knew she was one when I saw her pattern of thinking. The whole story is her strong logic (INTP's main function; how they live or what they love? ,) her unending string of thoughts on display. The reason why Maomao tries to make an organised explanation is for others to understand. You try anything over and over again, you become good at it. She discovers with ease—like a light has been switched on—without much elaboration—in her mind—but the people around her(mostly women in the Chinese rear palace and arrogant, dangerous men in the corridors of power) wouldn't give her the time of the day or care to understand if she didn't put her points out there like a storyline. Girl may not try her best, but she tries. One of her major strengths is that she knows, to an extent, her powers and weaknesses. This is history we're talking about, women were seen as powerless property for men. It could've been a pain, but she is aware—probably from unpleasant past experiences—that people wouldn't even care to listen to a tiny woman like her: a mere Apothecary brought up in a brothel, the insignificant daughter of a concubine (her thoughts), if she is not careful with the way she presents these details. This is not a detailed explanation or anything, just what I felt. Because I'm lazy to write anything else. Who knows, maybe I might. Edit: She builds theories and enjoys doing so. We can see the joy in her eyes everytime she comes up with something new. The woman had thought she might be able to make something to grow Eunuch Jinshi's member back with her experimental concoction, and that Jinshi might be Emperor's side chick. So what if she trusts factual information, does that not make her an INTP? just cuz she has some observation skills doesn't make her an ISTP. For everyone insisting that her sense of her surroundings is much "Superior" than that of an INTP, No, I have not seen her having any extra sensing skills than I myself do. If anything, she's rather weak when it comes to those stuff. In the novel and manga, I see Jinshi, an Enfj, and many others, using this fact to their advantage more often than not—because of her being slow to react and notice. She doesn't seek poison out just cuz it's a drug, and her obsession is not just a drug induced addiction, it goes way deeper. Also while she sees the big picture, I have found her in more than a few occasions where she has gotten stuck in details now and then, when something interesting gets her attention, and people have had to haul her focus back to the situation at hand because of this behaviour. It's her guilty(less)pleasure. Who knows, I wouldn't even be surprised if Maomao was on the autism spectrum. Her whole family is eccentric way back to her ancestors and grandfathers and they're called "eccentric" for a reason. And, how else is she supposed to find herbs without using her sensory functions. So if I'm an avid reader using my eyes to read, by this logic, that'll make me an ISTP. Artists and painters use sensory details, that'll make all of em ISTPs. hmm
Biography
Maomao (猫猫) is the main protagonist of Kusuriya no Hitorigoto. After getting kidnapped, she found herself working as a court lady in the Inner Palace of Rii. There, she was able to make use of her keen sense of practicality and insightful knowledge of herbs and illnesses to solve the mysterious problems within the inner court.
