What personality type is Naoka Ueno? Naoka Ueno is an ESTJ personality type in MBTI, 8w7 - sx/so - 837 in Enneagram, SLUEN in Big 5, SEE in Socionics.
Probably one of the realest characters I've seen in any kind of anime. A good and healthy character? Absolutely not. But very realistic. Because of their limited understanding of the world and how it works, young children can be immature and downright cruel at times. They may think that bullying is normal and acceptable, maybe because they don't know that what they're doing is bullying at all. Naoka was normally entrusted with helping Nishimiya during school. I don't think she minded much at first, but as the responsibilities and expectations kept building on her (coupled with having to do extra work...thanks to the a-hole teacher 🙃) she saw Nishimiya as more and more of an unfair burden. Why is she the only kid who has to help Nishimiya? Why is she getting all the extra work when no one else does? Why is the teacher scolding her for slipping up after giving her all these extra responsibilities? I think this is why Naoka is so misunderstood. Her anger towards Nishimiya is honestly understandable, but how she went through with it was despicable. I think what started the bullying was her obvious crush on Shōya. She was constantly do stuff to get his attention, but each time she failed. When she finally started getting his attention it was because he asked her to pick on Nishimiya with him. She did so, and finally got his attention, thus where the bullying began. Once again, she was a child, so having her behavior be positively reinforced, especially by her crush, gave her the impression that doing this was good and normal. Once again, being self-centered, she only thought of herself when picking on Nishimiya because she knew it was the best way to get closer to her crush. She did not take into consideration how Nishimiya felt about her bullying, or that she was even bullying at all.
Biography
Naoka Ueno (植野 直花, Ueno Naoka) is a character in the Koe no Katachi series. She was Shōya Ishida's classmate back in elementary school, and sat next to him. She used to be the closest female with Ishida, until she denied any part in helping Ishida bully Shōko Nishimiya. Ueno is a rather blunt and straightforward person, being rude and frank to people she dislikes, especially to Shōko Nishimiya. Ueno, being the "traditional tsundere", has been shown to be somewhat dull and insensitive to many of the characters, although she admits to this. She is also known to be somewhat rash with her decisions and will resort to violence rather quickly, as shown in chapter 44 when Ueno assaults Shōko after her attempted suicide, which resulted in Shōya Ishida being injured.
