What personality type is Garfiel Tinsel? Garfiel Tinsel is an ESFP personality type in MBTI, 6w7 - sx/sp - 684 in Enneagram, SLUEN in Big 5, SLE in Socionics.
I don't think his enneagram core is 8. 8 is part of the gut triad which seeks autonomy and in 8's case he would assert himself against the enviroment to feel he has control of his life, keeping a strong front to deal with the feeling of vulnerability. Taking that in count, when Garfiel starts calling Subaru his boss, he puts himself in a "vulnerable" position and Subaru starts representing guidance for him, therefore showing he doesn't value autonomy that much. Like a 6, that need for having guidance can be seen on Garfiel during most of his life: first with his mother and Frederica, then with Ryuzu, and later with Subaru. Garfiel's biggest struggle was being afraid of the outside world which took his mother away from him, therefore his aggressiveness and the way he "fights" the enviroment is motivated by his fear (which aligns with the mind triad) instead of the need of autonomy or anger. Since 6s seek an autorithy/figure to be their fount of safety, they are very picky about it and can be very suspicious of other people in order to determine who is worthy of their trust and loyalty and that can be seen a lot on Garfiel, for example how at first he was suspicious of most of Subaru's actions and of the outsiders due to fearing what they could do (again being motivated by fear). After Subaru gains his trust, he becomes one of the most loyal allies of Subaru, therefore making a commitment with him which again denies an 8's need to have control of their lifes making them avoid commitments. He is a counterphobic 6, which means that different from a phobic 6 who is more cautious and compliant when they are afraid, he acts in a agressive way to handle the problem before it affects him, for example on the timeline when he tries to kill Subaru due to being very suspicious of him and afraid of what he could do. About his tritype i think 684 makes sense, 4 as his heart type since 4 is part of the withdrawn triad which means Garfiel feels he lacks resources to deal with the outside world which is represented by the way he retracted himself on the Sanctuary fearing not being able to handle the outside world due to fearing his past. 8 since his anger seems to strive more from a momentaneous gut feeling and i can't really see many traits of 9 and 1 on him.
Biography
Known as the Shield of the Sanctuary, who guards it from intruders. He's Frederica's fairly uncouth younger half-brother. By calling upon his particular ancestral beastman, he's capable of partially or fully transforming parts of his body into a more beast-like form, which is that of golden tiger, granting him him extreme power and speed. He also has a Divine Protection/Blessing, called "Earth Spirits", which grants him earth-like armor and allows him create powerful earthquakes with a single step, with enough force to collapse a small building in one blow, as long as he physically connected to the earth. Subaru considers him nearly on par with Wilhelm in terms overall strength.
