here is why sadie is an ISFJ. i was talking to my friend who said “I often have trouble distinguishing ExTPs from FJs because ExTPs' Fe can seem good. Knowing to think about whether they focus more on objects or subjects clicks things into place”, and i said: “i think ExTPs and ExFJs would be harder to distinguish, but IxFJs also pose a challenge because Pi is the most “unseen” function by the external world. but overall, despite Je being their first extraverted function they will seem more introverted, subdued, and more .. ruminating? than their ExFJ counterparts? also have a greater ability to notice and call out internal inconsistencies due to tert Ti.” i got clips for sadie to prove my point because she was the first character that popped into my mind and i just? her dominant function is so obviously introverted and she has clear IxFJ qualities (Pi(FeTi)Pe). these clips are perfectly representative of sadie as a whole, juxtaposed next to her mother and steven who are both ESFJs: https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/410171827705479169/919737121630212146/video.mov and before anyone thinks this is stage fright: anyone can have stage fright, including extraverts, but stage fright is NOT what sadie was all worked up about. she’s worked up because this is just another instance of her mom taking control and she’s had enough. and i know she asserts her autonomy and says she wants to do things “her way”, but this doesn’t mean IxxP. her arguments are inherently tied to an accumulation of experiences and not just a standalone judgement. she’s mad BECAUSE something like this has happened so many times before and she finally got the courage to stand her ground about it. IxFJs have a tendency to hold their perceptions in and smile, accumulating burdens only visible to them (Pi) to avoid upsetting others (Fe), until something happens one too many times and they have a critical outburst about it. an IxFJs judgements between Fe and Ti are more flexible than ExFJs; that is what we see in sadie. “doing things my way” could also be a rejection of her mother and steven’s childish Ne. to sadie it’s like a minefield, goes off the rails, and it’s not what she had in mind. she finds it difficult to integrate into her Si. Ne is too high stakes to her to be fooling with, and steven and her mom’s tertiary Ne do just that. in the ISFJ, all top 3 functions need to justify Ne use, and if we zoom closer we can see that Ti needs to justify using Ne, which is 100% what she does and in fully present in this clip. this is not the case for ESFJ. again, reinforcing sadie’s primary use of introverted functions. “Extraversion devalues the subject as something insulated from the world. Extraversion is uncomfortable with an idea until it is verified with objective data, i.e. given a trans-subjective basis. Extraversion's ultimate tendency is the destruction of the barriers between individual subjectivities, and the complete dissolution of the subject into the realm of the commonly accessible, the impersonal, the non-self. Introversion, on the other hand, devalues the object as alien, unpredictable, and impertinent. Everything is translated into the subject's terms.” i should note that i analyzed one clip in depth here but i used it because it’s so representative of sadie’s character as a WHOLE. my vote comes from my general impression of her personality over the course of the entire show, not any one single clip—i actually just used the first clip i came across on youtube and that was enough to demonstrate my point about her being ISFJ! so i’m not cherrypicking evidence. (also right here perfect example you can actually see that “all top 3 functions need to justify Ne use” in me too but with Se instead lol)
Biography
Sadie Miller, also known by her former stage name Sadie Killer, is a resident of Beach City and a former employee of the Big Donut. She made her debut in the Pilot, and her first canon appearance was in "Gem Glow". She was formerly the lead singer in the band Sadie Killer and the Suspects until the band disbanded to pursue their interests in "Little Graduation". She is currently dating her romantic partner, Shep.
