monica is not a core 1, she’s only voted that because she’s perfectionistic. if you look at the core motivations of the enneagram, everything about her screams 3 monica repeatedly shows that she values her self-worth based on her achievements and how others view her. although she definitely has lots of 1 traits in her, monica doesn’t necessarily seem to be motivated by morality. monica views everything as a competition she needs to win otherwise she’ll be worthless — which is as 3 as it gets. i think one of the most obvious indicators of her being a core 3 is her childhood. as a child, monica constantly felt overshadowed by ross because their parents obviously favored him over her, and she felt the need to compensate for this. in the series, she is constantly shown to need the approval of her mother, even though monica doesn’t necessarily even like her. she practically hinges her entire self worth on how her peers view her because that’s the only way monica knows how to get love. furthermore, i feel like 3 -> 6 integration is more clearly demonstrated in her character than 1 -> 7 is.
