What personality type is Stefan Salvatore? Stefan Salvatore is an ISFJ personality type in MBTI, 1w2 - sp/sx - 126 in Enneagram, RLOAI in Big 5, ESI in Socionics.
Not sure why people voted for EII. He's more of an ESI because he's "well balanced" ( if you will ) in a sense where he's very moral and can easily determine the morality of an individual, like potential foes / villains. Stefan tends to use his emotions internally rather than externally and may come off as stoic and unemotional, I sorta understood this to be especially prevalent within the first seasons when him and Elena start to get to know one another better. ( He refused to share his emotions and back story which ultimately split the two up for some time, but after he used his empathy to bring them back together ) Additionally, his demeanor is very closed off, individual and in a way, skeptical. His "inner demeanor" is represented through a high degree of loyalty and compassion. Stefan is ALWAYS trying to help people and make the world better. For example, when Caroline became a vampire, Stefan guided her throughout the entire experience, he comforted her when things got tough and he always stood by her. Even though Damon killed his best friend, he ultimately ended his life so that he could live one with Elena. His inner selflessness makes him who he is, he comforted Vicky during her vampirism phase, and was without exception, always there Bonnie during the darkest parts of her life. ESI's exemplify this perfectly. To reiterate, Stefan may appear as phlegmatic, impassive, and perhaps even soulless, but once you truly understand him he becomes a completely different person. His compassion and loyalty to his brother, his friends, Elena, Caroline, even Katherine signify him as an ESI. Sociotype states, "Many ESIs are inclined to see themselves as morally immaculate, and to behave as such whenever they can. They may pride themselves on their emotional sincerity, and when dealing with individuals they respect, they typically try to work out clashes through honest and forthright discussion. However, their sense of principled candor is sometimes marred by the conflicting emotions they experience." Which I feel wraps Stefan's personality up pretty nicely. Although I can see how Stefan could be considered an EII, his dominance in ESI really trumps this. EII: "The EII attempts to create the most harmonious, most humane, in his opinion, form of ethical relations, which would exclude the suppression of one personality by another, conflicts, discord, lack of understanding, and mutual distrust...EII's entire life consists of a search for means and possibilities to realize his idealistic system of relations; moreover, his own behavior usually serves as a positive example of it. The outcome of such an orientation is heightened introspection and self-analysis, self-critical approach, and constant ethical self-improvement that is characteristic of people of this type. While he is highly demanding of himself, the EII is unusually very tolerant of weaknesses of other people." Stefan does have many characteristics of EII, however EII are always hyperaware of their behavior and how it reflects their ideals. Stefan isn't always like this; when he turned his humanity off *multiple times* he wasn't aware of how he was behaving, and thus turned into a completely different person. I've always liked Stefan better than Damon because his ideologies were so pure and moral, his loyalty superseded everything. Even Emily Bennett agrees, "Your heart is pure Stefan"
Biography
Stefan Salvatore was one of the two main male protagonists of The Vampire Diaries. Stefan was a 171-year-old cured vampire and the distant descendant and doppelgänger of Silas. Stefan was born and raised in the supernatural town of Mystic Falls, Virginia and came of age during the time of the Civil War. Stefan was the youngest child of Giuseppe Salvatore and Lillian Salvatore. He had an older brother, Damon Salvatore, who is also a cured vampire and whom he shared a strained relationship with, stemming from the appearance of Katherine Pierce in which they fought over whilst human.
