What personality type is Otto Hightower? Otto Hightower is an INTJ personality type in MBTI, 3w4 - sp/so - 351 in Enneagram, RCOEN in Big 5, LIE in Socionics.
INTJ > ENTJ His demeanor indicates Ni > Te and Fi > Se, never preferring to take immediate action on a situation. His strengths lie in his foresight slightly more than his ability to do what needs to be done. His vacillation at Dragonstone seems to indicate an inferior Se, complementary to Rhaenyra's dominant Se who essentially saved him there. E5 > E3 Edit: changed my mind sp 3 does make sense for him, but I think 5 works better. E5 parents tend to place value on competence, independence, and intelligence in their children. From the first episode, we see a little of Otto's parenting style. He asks Alicent why she effaces herself by biting her fingernails all the time. "You're the most comely girl at court," he says (something like that). He's trying to inspire confidence in his daughter, to make her more independent. In the latest episode, he tells Alicent exactly what is going to happen: "The realm will not accept Rhaenyra, there will be war, and she will have to put your children to the sword. You know it's true, and you're not an idiot, but still you refuse to see it." I think this is a case of an E5 parental projection. Did Alicent really foresee this? She is a little naive, but Otto wants to believe his issue cannot be this naive. It's a kind of intellectual pride associated with 5s and 3s, which is why I understand the 3 votes, but overall I think his main thing is more about competence and knowledge over his image. Notes on some other comments I saw "He's the Tywin Lannister of HotD" - Yes, but he's far less commanding and domineering. "He's more like Tywin than Littlefinger, so ENTJ" - And what if Littlefinger isn't an INTJ? Also, cognition is more than just appearance. Addendum Like most people on this site, I'm not an expert, and I welcome criticism. My argument here is by no means complete, though. I have yet to justify, for example, my choice for Otto's instinctual subtype.
Biography
Otto Hightower is a grandfather of King Aegon II Targaryen, a younger brother of Lord Hobert Hightower of Oldtown, and the current Hand of the King of the #Greens faction. He served as Hand of the King for Kings Jaehaerys I and Viserys I, and proposed a marriage between Aegon and Rhaenyra to solve the problem of succession.
