Stayed, fought and tried to "prove himself" because that's what Noxus, his homeland expected from him. That was, in Kayn's eyes, what would bring him "admiration". Kayn was an orphan, a kid without any guidance and he decided his life would be devoted to prove himself- to fill that desire of him that wants to feel "worthy". "Will you prove worthy?" -Kayn's words to the summoner when they pick him. After being Zed's new pupil, Kayn did everything he could to be "seen", to be his favorite pupil. He worked to master every weapon the Shadow Order had, while Zed's other pupils usually only excelled in one. He wanted to impress Zed. To be the best, the most "worthy" of the admiration. "Even Zed would be impressed." -First thing Kayn mentions after killing someone, he immediately thinks of impressing someone else. "Social Threes have a highly developed talent for image-making and so have a strong ability to sell and market themselves or whatever product they might want to promote. Kayn is obsessed with performing well by all means. He is not satisfied with mastering every weapon- he can be better. That's what makes him not free Rhaast from the Scythe, to defeat Rhaast and be the best of the best. "My potential has been realized!" -Kayn, after scoring an ace, which consists of taking down everyone on the enemy team. That's what comes to his mind, that's what he values the most. "I was born into a nation of despair and I alone am the remedy." -wanting to leave an impact to the world, to become the "salvation" people needs- might seem 2 at first, but when you consider Kayn's other quotes, personality and backstory, it further weaponizes Kayn's so3 fantasy. Also, Odyssey Kayn is EVEN more so3 than Kayn. I'll maybe make an argument about it later.
