Rhaenyra I Targaryen MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Rhaenyra I Targaryen? Rhaenyra I Targaryen is an ESFP personality type in MBTI, 7w8 - sp/sx - 278 in Enneagram, SLUEI in Big 5, SEE in Socionics.

Rhaenyra's enneagram is something I struggled to understand—at first I didn't get E2 but since people have been analyzing her character there's this one phrase used to describe her that stood out to me. "𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘭, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘩𝘦𝘳. 𝘕𝘰 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯." Plainly speaking, Rhaenyra only cares about her rights; to be the exception to all the rules. Rhaenyra "when I am queen, there will be a new order" Targaryen believes that she doesn't have to take part in the system because of who she is, and while her statement to Rhaenys comes off as her wanting to improve the rights of women in general, the next thing she says to her retracts all that: "They denied 𝐲𝐨𝐮, Princess Rhaenys, The Queen Who Never Was, but they bent their knee to 𝐦𝐞 and called 𝐦𝐞 heir to the throne." Here are two characters who are seemingly mirrors of each other—one who was and one who will be at risk of losing their position in favor of a male heir, yet instead of showing understanding or sympathy to someone who was once in her position, she takes a dig at Rhaenys, emphasizing to her "The Queen Who Never Was." There's very likely nothing that differentiates these two in that moment; they're both the eldest female heirs in an order where male primogeniture takes precedent, yet Rhaenyra believes that she is special enough for the system to make an exception for her... but not for Rhaenys whose succession question only occurred one generation ago. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝟐? > The passion of E2 is Pride. This is not the same as being prideful of one's achievements or abilities, but having an 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟. They believe they are larger than life, different from ordinary people, and that they are capable of more. They are proud when they are "indispensable to that prestigious other," but when they aren't recognized or get the treatment they feel they deserve, they are deeply hurt. The biggest example of this is Rhaenyra's relationship with her father. Her whole life she has felt side-tracked and unwanted because she's not the son that Viserys wanted. All she longed for was to be recognized by him, to feel that she is enough. Despite being recognized as the Realm’s Delight—being specially treated by her parents as she is their only child—Rhaenyra still doesn’t feel “indispensable” to this “prestigious other,” aka her father, which explains a lot of her attitude in her younger self. > "𝐈 𝐰𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐟, 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐦𝐲 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝, 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬" Another bit on Twos: "𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞/𝐟𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝/𝐮𝐩𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞—𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐰𝐨𝐬 𝐝𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐭—𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐚 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐮𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤." > A conversation between Rhaenyra and Viserys: R: If you refer to your attempt to marry me off to Casterly Rock V: I was trying to help you. Will you not be helped? Why must every effort on your behalf be resisted? R: Because you mean to replace me, with Alicent Hightower's son, the boy you *always wanted*. You have him in hands now, you have no further use for me. You might as well peddle me for what you can. A mountain stronghold or a fleet of ships. ... V: I wish to see you contented, happy even. R: You think a man will do it? V: A family. R: I had a family! V: What would you have me do?! R: If it was for advantage, you would've wed Laena Velaryon!
