What personality type is Taichi Mashima? Taichi Mashima is an INFJ personality type in MBTI, 6w5 - sx/sp - 614 in Enneagram, RCOAI in Big 5, IEI in Socionics.
Big Chihayafuru fan, Taichi is very interesting and no one has developed the INFJ argument at length yet, so I wrote a lot about it, it will take several posts, please read the comments if you're interested. Ni (Dominant) : He's a clear Ni Dominant, he's always very focused on the future, be it short term (trying to figure out what cards are gonna be read next) or long term (constantly evaluating whether it's wise to even keep playing karuta, to the point where he ended up quitting despite being better than Chihaya at that point in time). He also agreed to break up with his girlfriend comically fast because he knew there was no future there. Fe (Auxiliary) : He's clearly a Feeler, on the upside he's amazingly social with everyone and manages to get along even with people that have a grudge against him, he's just impossible to dislike. On the downside he's constantly failing to see how illogical he's being regarding Karuta. The best example is when he says in the anime "talent, talent, talent" and we see him think about Shinobu, Chihaya and Arata, even though it's been clearly stated that Chihaya and Arata weren't even good when they started out. As a matter of fact he even reached Class B before Chihaya despite practicing less than she did, she only caught up to him because he slacked off for 3 years. We then learn when he's well into his first year in high school that "he never does any practice swing because he thinks they're embarassing", a stark contrast with the "talented" Arata who does 500 a day. He even complains about Chihaya's hearing despite her listening to the poems on repeat on her MP3, and him never doing that either. [1/4]
Biography
The childhood friend of his crush Chihaya and (begrudgingly) Arata, he reunites with the former when he starts attending her high school. Has also played karuta since he was a kid and is B-Class when the series begins, determined to become A-Class. Handsome, affluent and popular at school, Taichi supports Chihaya as president of the karuta club, though he is a skilled player who is noted to be unfortunately prone to bad luck.
