Mai's situation is difficult to describe because she's portrayed in an awkward way. Therefore, I won't jump to conclusions. She's more like the kind of ISFJ who "masks her vulnerable inner self by pretending to be extroverted and sarcastic." One moment she seem like an ESTP, lacking emotional response, sarcastic, and rather cold; the next they seem like an ISTP or ISFJ, prone to expressing immature sentimental attitudes. I just feel her personal emotional stance is too constrained and conflicted. While this does represent Fi, but it's basically limited to her relationship with her sister Maki. Beyond that, she seems somewhat indifferent and sarcastic towards the outside world (her limited response to inferior Fe), and her lack of emotional responsiveness is too obvious, though not to the point of "coldness." By ISFP and ESFP standards, her emotional responses clearly lack the usual warmth, but by ESTP standards, she's not that cold. Her personal emotional stance is genuine, although clearly constrained and lacking in tact. Her Ti-style logical analytical stance is indeed very strong. In conclusion, I think she's most like an ISTP. Actually, ISTPs and SLE ESFPs share commonalities in their approach to emotions compared to ESTPs. That is, they are not good at expressing themselves, and their timing and manner of expression are often strange. They find it difficult to establish sustained emotional connections and communication with others over a long period. SEE ESFPs are more likely to compensate for this deficiency by expressing strong personal emotional attitudes, while ISTPs and SLE ESFPs are more likely to drop out halfway. ISFPs, as feeling dominant individuals, are relatively good at this. However, compared to the Fe dominant personality type, they focus on themselves and have a universally existing emotional value stance. They will not easily compromise their moral stance to deal with external situations, which is quite evident in contrast to Yuji.
