Biography
St Ignatius of Loyola/Ignacio de Loyola (1491-1556) was a Spanish Basque Catholic Priest and theologian who co-founded the Catholic religious order, the Society of Jesus, nicknamed the Jesuits, becoming its first Superior General in 1541. He is known for composing the Spiritual Exercises, a set of meditations, prayers, and mental exercises, which form the basis of Jesuit spirituality to this day.
