andy is more or less a well fleshed out joke character, but a joke character nonetheless. one thing i find with ExxP comic relief characters, especially the ones that aren’t on the brighter side is that they are written with both inferior Si idiocy and inferior Ni idiocy, and it bounces back and forth for whatever’s funniest or whatever serves the situation at the time. sometimes the gag will be his long tangential rants about the most ridiculous outlandish concepts and his endless combing over of possibilities and sometimes the gag will be that he takes everything at face value and doesn’t understand anything further. to me, when i look at andy overall as a character, i see his Ne popping out a lot more. he just goes on so many long big word vomit rants and is just so obsessed with ideas sometimes. his imagination is boundless and it’s so essential to his character.
Biography
Andy was introduced as Ann's idiotic musician boyfriend in the first season and originally intended as a temporary character. He was retained in the second season after Ann broke up with him and landed a job as a shoe-shiner at City Hall. He had a will they or won't they? relationship with April in the second season. In the third season, he and April married after having dated for less than a month, much to Leslie's horror. Since then, their marriage has proved surprisingly stable. At the start of Season 4, Andy leaves his shoe-shiner job and joins the Parks Department.
