The only reason that I have deduced him to be an ISTP is because an ISTJ would be much more aware of their health. Their inner body sensations and ability to tell something is wrong with themselves would prevent them from doing the things that Ron generally does. Ron's obsession with meat based meals is likely rather a sensation based desire rather than a carefully formed routine diet. The fact that most of the meals are steak or burgers also leans toward the unhealthy side a bit. I am not saying that burgers and steak can't be healthy, but Ron's level of consumption would make most Si types gag. Then there is the issue of his impulsiveness. He is not a calculated ISTJ, one piece of proof is when he burned his hand on the coffee machine. Rather than burn his hand and think, "Hmm this was a bad experience I should avoid any situations like this in the future", and remembering the experience as an ISTJ would, he instead punched the machine. Some people try to argue the idea of his strong classic American beliefs and hobbies are a form of Fi usage. I would like to argue that instead of them being a built set of beliefs(Fi), it is rather a construction of perceived facts turned into a framework of the world he lives in(Ti). The hobbies he has are also built from those beliefs with a hint for the desire of Se activation. Fishing, woodworking, grilling, they are all hobbies that were probably instilled in him when he was young on his family's farm(Ti), that he enjoys through the sensory interaction(Se). This was my analysis on Ron Swanson and how he is likely an ISTP over ISTJ, as that seems to be the most argued point on this profile.
