What personality type is Deishuu Kaiki? Deishuu Kaiki is an INTJ personality type in MBTI, 5w6 - sp/so - 593 in Enneagram, RCOEI in Big 5, ILI in Socionics.
Despite him being one of the most interesting and complex characters I’ve ever seen, and him therefore being one of my all time favorite characters, he’s still one of the easiest guys in Monogatari to type across most typology systems imo. He’s maybe even one of the easiest to type in all of anime. Different communities across the internet and around the world have reached mutual agreement on some of his types without even needing to interact with one other. The Russian anime fans type him ILI, and so does the west. The Japanese MBTI community types him INTJ, and so does the west. It’s honestly really cool, since I usually see great disparity between these three communities (Russians, Japanese, westerners) in how “they” interpret and type most anime characters. (I’m quoting “they” since communities aren’t monolithic, and not everyone who’s in a community is going to agree with one another. It’s just interesting to see when a general consensus from a community is congruent with the consensus from another community, especially when they’ve never directly interacted with each another, is what I’m saying). There’s only one typing I’ve seen that I’m not sure I can get behind. He’s typed as 1w2 on a Japanese website. I thought about it some, and can understand this take with how he might be gut/anger triad. He’s easily irritated and actively suppresses his anger quite a lot (something that’s described as the 1 coping mechanism), one case being in Koimonogatari/Hitagi End when he had to suppress the urge to knock out Ononoki for irritating him with her new catchphrase. He also doesn’t hold back much in expressing his discontent and resentment, which generally comes out in the form of insults. In a way, I could also see these behaviors as also pointing to being related to the frustration triad. I’m not entirely sold on him being a 1, but I’m not sold on him being a 5 either. If he is a 1 (asides from #1 best girl of course), it would be interesting to see since he would be a very non-stereotypical 1.

Deishuu Kaiki (貝木 泥舟, Kaiki Deishū) is a conman specializing in imposter oddities and charms. He is known as the first of five con men who swindled the Senjougahara family, as well as selling charms to middle school students. #ShinichiroMiki
