What personality type is Meme Oshino? Meme Oshino is an INTP personality type in MBTI, 9w8 - sp/so - 794 in Enneagram, SCUEI in Big 5, ILE in Socionics.
I’m gonna be that one weirdo with the crazy typings. I think he’s LIE over ILE. I understand how he could fit the western image of an ILE, but I still don’t think he’s Si valuing. I think that is approach to Si is the biggest issue with ILE. Strong and valued Si is seen as generating ideal living conditions for themselves and others by fine tuning the environment. Si valuing in a weaker position will still try to improve living conditions that they see as not ideal, even if they may not be good at this. If someone with weak but valued Si is unable to make their environment more comfortable, they will take a liking to people who will provide them with their ideal of comfort. So, from my point of view, I would say that a dilapidated abandoned cram school full of safety hazards would be the least preferable environment for Si valuers, even when the valued Si is weaker. I think he’s Si polr. He actively searches for abandoned buildings to squat in so he can be away from the city, but he doesn’t try to improve these dangerous and filthy places. Achieving any sort of comfort seems like a blind spot of his. He doesn’t seek out doting people who would help him with his living conditions, either. He seems pretty disturbed by others who tend to be like this, especially when you look at his views towards the kind Hanekawa. Going off on a bit of a tangent, according to most Russian circles and authors (Strat and Gulenko come to mind), a person being disturbed by such openly giving behavior is seen as a common trait of Fi seeking, especially in LIE, since due to their seeking function of negative Fi they will prefer others who are mistrustful and discerning of people’s motives and character, but still remain polite and maintain social graces (all common traits of negative Fi). Going back to Si, I think another reason why the western community sees Oshino as valuing Si over Se is due to how he dislikes violence. But valuing Se doesn’t automatically make a person violent or aggressive. People with weaker and valued Se usually admire others who use force in an efficient and nonviolent manner. Something that people with strong and valued Se are capable of doing. This approach is something he tries to imitate. Role Se in ILE and IEE is often displayed as them playfully and jokingly portraying themselves as being more powerful and aggressive than they really are. Something that I haven’t seen Oshino do. I can see the strong Ne. He generates quite a few ideas, but he’s quick to sort through these ideas to come to an interpretation (Ni), and then uses applicable knowledge to create an efficient plan to deal with aberrations (Te). I see this more as demo Ne thinking since his usage of Ne is in service of expediting related information and effective plans (Te) spurred by his interpretations (Ni). I want to say that he’s competency triad. Specifically 5w4. I’ve seen him as 3w4 on a Japanese website, which I can understand since he’s sp/so. IIRC sp 3 seeks a more personally affirming approach towards their status and knowledge in their preferred field, improving their understanding through research instead of seeking a more public sort of status. Which Oshino is confident in his knowledge and always seeks to learn more about aberrations. I also understand the 7 typing, but I’m not entirely sold on 7 since I don’t think he’s positive outlook. As for 9, I think Araragi is the better example of 9 with how he’s always trying to reach the best outcome for everyone, often to his own detriment. Oshino tends to express disdain and even insults Araragi for having that sort of idealistic attitude. I don’t have much of an opinion on his MBTI. He is listed as INTP on Japanese sites, so it’s cool to see that many Japanese fans view him similarly to how many fans of the west sees him. If I had to guess an alternative to INTP, I would say ENTP. But he’s not much of a “devil’s advocate” who tries to rile people up by challenging their views, which is usually associated with ENTP. He instead looks at different points of view and rolls with whatever. INTP, LIE-Ni (LIE-H in model G), sp/so (being 3, 7, or 5 and having 9 in his tritype) is what I’d guess for him.
