Starlight Glimmer MBTI Personality Type
Personality
What personality type is Starlight Glimmer? Starlight Glimmer is an ESTJ personality type in MBTI, 6w7 - so/sx - 628 in Enneagram, SLOAI in Big 5, ESI in Socionics.
It took me a while to decide between ESFJ and ESTJ, but I ultimately landed on ESTJ. While her ruling of “Our Town” appears Fe-dom at first glance, I just don’t see any Fe in her character development. It seems that being Fe-dom was more of a facade, a way to convince others to fall under her rule. In later seasons, it becomes clear how Starlight’s decision-making operates more on a Te-Fi axis, not Fe-Ti. She doesn’t seem to make decisions based on how they will affect others, as you would expect in a healthy Fe-dom (or even for manipulation like an unhealthy one). Rather, she acts first based on what she thinks is the efficient solution, then later realizes the impact her decisions had on others. Because of this, I think Starlight’s storyline is about her developing a healthy relationship between her Te and Fi. Here are some examples: 1. When Starlight uses magic to control her friends and complete her friendship lessons, this is clear execution of Te, as she sees this as the most efficient way to get them done. She doesn’t realize until later how this decision affected her friends. 2. When Starlight gives away Trixie’s caravan in exchange for a bigger one, she fails, at first, to see why Trixie’s caravan means so much to her and makes this decision based on having a much more efficient trip. Even when Trixie is crying, Starlight continues to be angry and accuses her of not caring about their friendship or understanding how this new caravan will make their trip easier, further misunderstanding Trixie’s emotions and how she has been impacted by the giving away of the caravan. 3. Starlights mentions in the episode where she befriends Maud that she doesn’t like to discuss feelings. I think this is because she is very out of touch with the operation of her emotions, hence feeling being her inferior function. 4. Her natural leadership seems to come from a place of good organization and knowing the best way to get things done, rather than an understanding of how her decisions affect others and what is good for everyone. Because of her obvious Si, she recognizes the undeveloped nature of her Fi based on her past experiences with leadership, hence why she is afraid to enact her natural leadership in future episodes.
Biography
The (unofficial) newbie of the Mane Cast. Starlight Glimmer is the villain of Season 5, featuring in both the premiere "The Cutie Map" and the finale "The Cutie Re-Mark." She felt that cutie marks only led to pain and unhappiness as the differences between ponies pulled them apart, so she created a community where the residents gave up their cutie marks to know "true" friendship, while Starlight secretly keeps her own cutie mark so she can use her magic to enforce this conformity. When Starlight is exposed she flees, spying on Twilight throughout Season 5, until she returns in the season finale to get vengeance on Twilight by using Time Travel to stop Twilight and her friends from getting their cutie marks. However, when she realizes how important the group is to Equestria, Starlight stands down and surrenders. Intrigued by Starlight's magical prowess, Twilight takes her on as her student, and Starlight becomes a recurring character in Season 6, living with Twilight in her castle as she learns about the magic of friendship. Twilight appoints her as guidance counselor of the newly opened School of Friendship in Season 8, then promotes her to headmare in Season 9.
