What personality type is Applejack? Applejack is an ESTJ personality type in MBTI, 3w2 - sp/so - 316 in Enneagram, SCOAN in Big 5, LSE in Socionics.
SPOILERS FOR FIM She is the SP3 prototype 😭 what is it with voting characters with friends SO3 Apple’s distinguishing qualities are her reliability, maturity and stubbornness, she is family-oriented and knows how to do things for them to work out the way she wants them to, she is proud due to her image of the “most dependable of ponies”, though this tends to get out of hand (applebuck season episode in S1, for example). She is a clear workaholic who is preoccupied by her family’s issues and has a precise and effective plan to fix all the problems that come to her, she feels the need to help everyone around her (specially her family and friends), and it is obvious from the start of season 1. Applejack enjoys being helpful and being seen as reliable, even feeling betrayed when people question her wellbeing and ability to complete tasks (same episode mentioned previously for reference), which can lead her to self-destructive behavior that ends up hurting her loved ones too. As a kid, AJ experienced her parents’ deaths and felt responsible for all of her family’s burdens since then, she feels like she has to complete every task assigned to her as to be seen as valuable and good enough, regardless of how small the job, she wants to be the model as the steady one in the group who has everything under control, this being the root of her stubbornness and early maturity in relation to the rest of the mane 6 and her two siblings. Apple has a focus on material stability which is characteristic of SP3s, though this isn’t extremely clear, it can be observed in her reason to go to the grand galloping gala in S1’s the ticket master. She feels a strong identification with her work, her achievements and her roles in both familiar and social environments, though she is not as concerned with image compared to Rarity and Rainbow, it’s easy to tell that she has a strong commitment to the things that she considers hers, especially her work. Another episode I’d like to refer to before finishing off, is Apple’s short breakdown during S2’s the last roundup, she is upset and disappointed in herself once she is unable to achieve any prize money or first place medals to give back to Ponyville in order to fix the town hall, which she earlier on promised to provide the money for, Apple is discouraged and decides to start working in a small cherry factory to make the money she ‘owes’ to the town. AJ fits the SP3’s need to “have enough for oneself and even more to offer” perfectly, and if you read any of the subtype descriptions (whether it’s Naranjo’s or Chestnut’s), it is easy to tell how all of this can apply to Applejack.
Biography
The bearer of the Element of Honesty. An earth pony from the HUGE Apple family, a herd that runs multiple apple farms across Equestria. Applejack helps run Sweet Apple Acres, the ancestral farm of the family. Sensible and down to earth, she's admired for her honesty and integrity. However, she also has a bit of a stubborn streak at times. Her Pillar of Old Equestria is Rockhoof.
