Platinum Berlitz MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Platinum Berlitz? Platinum Berlitz is an ISTJ personality type in MBTI, 1w9 - sp/so - 513 in Enneagram, RCOAI in Big 5, LII in Socionics.

I’m still in the middle of rereading DPPt, but I think Platinum is likely a social 5. The reason she embarked on her journey was because she wanted to learn more about the world. Her motivation for challenging all the gym leaders was to learn and gain more life experience. Throughout the DPPt arc, Platinum shows a keen thirst for learning more. She’s a scholar through and through. Would it not make more sense for her core Enneagram to be in the head triad, rather than the gut triad? Her reaction to stress seems in line with the head triad, too. Platinum’s first instinct is to withdraw out of fear (at the Hearthome contest, when photographed at the ranch, when finding out the truth about her bodyguards). Out of the head triad, I believe E5 fits Platinum the most. She express many of their characteristic traits: 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲 In Naranjo’s Character & Neurosis, the E5’s desire for autonomy is described through Coulter: → “He is not aggressive or argumentative, will smile, remain pleasant, and appear mild enough-but still proceeds as he deems best.”: → “...a timid delicate white mouse which still fiercely maintains the integrity of its own small territory.” Both quotes describe Platinum’s personality aptly. At the beginning of the DP arc, both her father and butler vehemently disagreed with Platinum going on a journey. They believed it was too dangerous. But Platinum dismissed their fears as paranoia and insisted on leaving anyway. Plus, when she first met Diamond and Pearl, she was delighted by how much independence they granted her. Later on, after her father was kidnapped, he once again begged her to go back home. Yet, despite knowing all the dangers ahead of her, Platinum refused. Due to her intellectual stability, Platinum’s decision-making isn't so malleable to external opinions. 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫-𝐄𝐠𝐨 Platinum is driven. She pushes herself hard, has high expectations of herself, and doesn’t back down from a challenge. This is particularly demonstrated by her attitude towards the Hearthome contest and the gym challenges, as well as Platinum’s intellectual arrogance. 𝐇𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 Whilst Platinum is externally cold and indifferent, she holds an inner sensitivity and can feel deeply hurt. She doesn’t like being honest and vulnerable about her emotions, often lying about them to preserve her feelings and self-image. But hypocritically, she feels hurt when others do the same to her. 𝐂𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 Platinum is undeniably an intellectual who perceives the world primarily through her head. Before she embarked on her journey, she would read at least 10 books a day to learn as much as she can. Several times throughout the DPPt arc, we see Platinum reading in preparation for arriving at a new town. The reason Diamond and Pearl think she’s a tour guide for so long is because Platinum knows so much. Her first instinct at any opportunity is to learn. For example: → [At the Oreburgh mines, to the foreman] "Repayment! You wish to repay us? That means you'd be willing to do anything we request you to do? In that case, I would like you to show me the insides of the mines!” → [At the Lost Tower] “Whilst everyone is chatting here, may I explore the inner part of the tower? [...] When I heard about the resting place for deceased Pokemon, I was fascinated. I really want to broaden my knowledge." 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 & 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 Platinum displays insensitivity, indifference towards others, and a lack of desire for relationships—particularly at the beginning of the DP arc. Emotions, intimacy, and people do not interest Platinum very much. It is only when someone presents themselves as a learning opportunity that she warms up. When such an event occurs, Platinum almost instantaneously lowers her boundaries and becomes sociable with them (e.g. with the foreman showing her around the Oreburgh mines; the gym leaders; Cynthia’s battling expertise; Diamond and Pearl helping her train). As such, I believe the social subtype is most likely for Platinum. 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 Platinum is calm and apathetic. Her feelings rarely blind her thought process. → [After Solaceon Town, when they accidentally move in the opposite direction to Mt Coronet] "There's no point getting all upset. We should rest for now and consider how to proceed from here." Honestly, I understand the E1 votes. Her gut fix is certainly E1. But idk, I don’t really see E1 as Platinum’s core type? She lacks the fundamental moral righteousness and emotional frustration of E1s. Platinum doesn’t really care about being correct, being good, or perfectionism—what she cares about is understanding. Her main motivation is always to learn. As for her tritype, I think she is triple competent. Platinum is all about rationality, capability, and objectivity. And competency appears to be something she deeply admires in others, too. She enjoys being around intelligent

Biography

The third hero of the DP arc and the heroine of the Platinum arc. She is the princess of the group and is supposedly on a journey to Mt Coronet to honor a family tradition. She acts very snobbish at first but is later revealed to be also sheltered and curious. First Pokémon is a Ponyta and her starter is a Piplup. She's lightened up quite a bit in the Platinum arc.
