What personality type is Soul "Eater" Evans? Soul "Eater" Evans is an ISTP personality type in MBTI, 9w8 - sp/sx - 963 in Enneagram, RCUEN in Big 5, SLI in Socionics.
I'll just put in my two cents here for this one. I was honestly considering typing him as an ESTP, mostly because Soul has a fairly developed Fe, but then I thought, "Maybe he IS actually an E9..?" and then started thinking from there. He definitely has a pretty high level of Se, with an occasional inability to tell himself no when it comes to less than clever actions (see literally almost every time he and Black Star actually agree on stuff), but I don't think it's actually his dominant function..? Generally speaking, whenever he's paired with Black Star or Maka in a fight (whenever he doesn't just join the impulse gang for the hell of it), he often takes the role of the voice of reason, urging them both to take a moment to think before they act. With someone like Maka, who's a compassionate type with a thing for rules and details (Fe > Si), Soul will be the one to encourage a more laidback attitude, which could be described as lazy and similar to that of a coolheaded delinquent. And with someone like Black Star, who's perhaps the most obvious with his tendency to submit to his impulses and immediate judgements (Se-dom), Soul usually is there to sort of snark on the sidelines with more reasonable comments, with the occasional joining in on the dumb shenanigans. But like I said, he only really seems to do it for the fun of it, I guess, and will hold back if he believes it to be genuinely dangerous for those close to him or if he's just feeling lazy, basically. To me, that seems more of a Ti > Se sort of thing than a Se > Ti. In most pressing situations, he is much more likely to adhere to his own careful and logical judgements first before going with ready actions, rather than how I'd see a Se > Ti might do it, with the slightly lesser chance of considering consequences before acting. Don't get me wrong, ESTP's are pretty good with calculated risks and such, but one Soul's age would probably be less likely to consider specific consequences than he is. They'd be more of a bigger picture kind of thinker, with most of those calculations relating to the most logically relevant result at hand, then going to more personal matters like loved ones second. But the way Soul goes, based almost entirely on his own personal sense of reason and gut feelings, it seems to reflect a higher Ti and Ni more than anything. Even if I believe he also has a fairly developed Fe for somebody his age. That all probably didn't make sense, but yeah, I think Soul's disposition and tendency to focus more on his internal systems show more likeness to an ISTP than an ESTP.
