It seems that a lot of NeSi arguments stem from misunderstandings of the functions. Not every idea is an Ne idea. Ne: Gathers and explores ideas, concepts and possibilities Se: Gathers and explores data, details and experiences in the tangible world Zuko's ideas are made up on the go, by looking around his environment and combining stuff that the environment provides for him. "I need to get into the Northern Water Tribe. I can see seals that are coming out of the Northern Water Tribe. The seals need to dive up and breathe somewhere, so I can use the same path as them without drowning" "I have a door, a sun ray that needs to hit the door in order to open it and a sword that reflects light. So I'll use my sword to reflect the sun ray and open the door like that" "I have a ship that blows out a lot of smoke. Zhao is following me because he can see the smoke. I also have a small boat attached to my ship, the small boat wouldn't blow out smoke. So I'll let Zhao follow the smoke of the big ship while I take the small boat without a trail of smoke to get where I wanna be without being seen". I've seen people say that this was an argument for Ne because Aang does the same thing with Appa's fur. But the one who has the idea to lay a fake trail of Appa's fur to mislead Azula is Toph. Toph is an ISTP, so she's also Ne blind. She still has this idea, which shows you don't need Ne to have ideas. Toph and Zuko make up ideas by using the materials that their environment provides for them. "I have Katara's necklace and I have met an animal that I have been told can smell everything. So I'll take the necklace I have and give it to the animal I've met." Inventing the Blue Spirit also isn't an argument for Ne because Toph also invented the Blind Bandit persona. Zuko's ideas consist of using stuff that his environment provides for him to his advantage. He doesn't have more abstract and creative ideas like Aang and Sokka. His ideas are Se ideas. Ne and Se just have different types of ideas and his ideas are Se ideas. He also shows very clearly that he's Ne blind. Ne likes collecting possibilities and leaving them open because Ne doesn't want to be limited. Ni likes focusing on one thing at a time and doesn't like having to decide between too many options. Even when Iroh directly asks Zuko to consider other possibilities for his destiny, Zuko refuses to consider anything else than what he's currently up to. He refuses to see possibilities even when asked to do so, that's not an auxiliary Ne type. He refuses to change his opinion about his destiny until he directly experiences that going back to his father doesn't make him happy. He can't imagine the possibility that he won't be happy when being accepted by his father again. He's stuck in his ways until he makes the concrete experience that he's not happy when it actually happens. That's another case of Se, needing a concrete experience to change your ways. Ne could have imagined that without needing a concrete experience. He was stuck with Ni tunnel vision of "My destiny is to capture the Avatar" until a concrete experience showed him that capturing Aang wouldn't make him happy, that's the SeNi axis. So him changing sides isn't an example of Ne, even after he's changed sides he still always considers one possibility at a time. Ozai asks him why he doesn't just kill him during the eclipse and Zuko doesn't even consider the possibility, he immediately answers it's not his destiny to kill Ozai. When Aang's Ne looks for possibilities on how to win against Ozai without killing him, Zuko's the first one to scream there are no other possibilities than killing him. His ideas are Se ideas and he never considers multiple possibilities at the same time. He has Ni tunnel vision and his plans consist of using real world data/material to his advantage. Clearly SeNi. He clearly shows that he's Ne blind and an Fi-Si loop would make him less impulsive because Si is a careful and planning function. No Ne and Fi-Si loop doesn't make sense. ISFP functions do make sense for him
Biography
Even as the prince of the Fire Nation, Zuko has always struggled in life, particularly in matching his prodigy sister Azula and getting his father's acknowledgment. This came to a head when Ozai punished him for a perceived slight by horrifically burning his face and sending him into exile, refusing to let him return until he had captured the Avatar. (This was intended as a Snipe Hunt, since Aang had been missing for a century.) Determined to prove his worth to his father, Zuko hunted Aang across the world for the first season while trying to find his own destiny. Despite being an antagonist at the beginning, he serves as the deuteragonist, making him just as important as the good guys on Team Avatar.
