What personality type is Nagato? Nagato is an INFP personality type in MBTI, 4w5 - so/sp - 461 in Enneagram, RLUAI in Big 5, IEI in Socionics.
Based on his past experiences, Nagato believes that everyone should feel the same way he did in order to achieve peace. "People can only understand each other, once they've felt the same pain." This is a very twisted Fi centered philosophy. Throughout the anime, Nagato has a very firm grasp on his moral beliefs and adheres to them even when his fellow Akatsuki members have different viewpoints. He would even state that he wouldn't do certain acts against his enemies because it violated his own personal value system. Nagato's Ne is often found in his questioning of "what ifs" and possibilities of abstract meanings at a young age and is attuned to the big picture of the Shinobi world. Even as an adult and leader of the Akatsuki, Nagato was still willing to hear Naruto's perspective on rebuilding the Shinobi world. Ne as a cognitive function has a natural tendency of considering other possibilities. He was willing to hear Naruto's perspective on what he was going to do in the future and after Naruto used talk-no-jutsu Nagato was open-minded enough to put his faith into him. His Si comes into play with how he makes connections to his personal experience often and goes about describing significant events he's been through in great detail. I think inferior Te can be present in younger Nagato, when he refuses to accept more efficient and more agreed upon methods of reforming the Shinobi world as his Fi values of "finding peace" without violence initially fought back against such notions. While Te is his Inferior function, Nagato is not afraid to use it and in a unhealthy manner later in his life; he is commanding and controlling over the citizens of the Hidden Rain Village, wanting to keep the external environment around him under strict order. His cold demeanor and wicked philosophy is an indication of a twisted Fi philosophy being forced upon others through Te.
Biography
Formerly the apprentice of Jiraiya, Nagato was discovered among the Ame Orphans by the Sannin. Against Orochimaru's suggestion to kill them, Jiraiya took the trio in, raising them to learn Ninjutsu in order to protect themselves. Unfortunately, after Jiraiya completed his tutelage with them.
