What personality type is Senjuro Rengoku? Senjuro Rengoku is an ISFJ personality type in MBTI, 2w3 - sx/so - 269 in Enneagram, RLOAN in Big 5, EII in Socionics.
I knew immediately Senjuro was ISFJ. Never had any doubt about it. I wanna do an actual analysis later when I have time. I don't think 2w3 is right though. Senjuro isn't success-driven, image-focused, competitive or particularly ambitious. Senjuro's drive to become a demon slayer isn't motivated by any of these things. Rather, he wants his father's approval, and loves his brother's validation and he has a strong sense of responsibility. He simply feels that this is expected of him as per family tradition, which is why he feels so particularly guilty for not being able to follow through. He also feels guilty because he has such a deep desire to become useful to others and because of the family he was born into he feels that demon slaying is the "correct" way to do that. Kyojuro recognizes this about his younger brother too and can tell how hard on himself he is because of it, and therefore tells him on multiple occasions (especially if we count drama CD) that he ought to not narrow his horizons, for demon slaying is not the only way he can help people. Senjuro though, being a typical Si-dom (and Fe affecting this too) tends to be a little stubborn about believing he should still be able to do it like this, because it's the tradition and what's expected of him and what he believes would make other people happy. In any case, his motivations for trying to become a demon slayer are simply honoring tradition, fulfilling what he believes is his duty, a sense of belonging, then to some extent validation and praise. On drama CD he expresses another reason for wanting to become a demon slayer too, which is so that he could actually spend more time with his brother. I don't remember exactly how the line goes, but first he expressed how they can never do things together because Kyojuro is so busy, and then he said that if he was a demon slayer too he could at least accompany him to his missions. This makes it rather clear that he simply doesn't want to be left behind either... So because of all this, I think he's most likely a 2w1 or even 9w1. I'm kind of leaning towards 2w1, although he has qualities of both and isn't perfectly described by either type. But I know for certain he does not have 3 wing, even if his drive to accomplish things may on a very surface level look like it. I'll need to read even more into the types (and make sense of how they'd be combined with ISFJ) before I make my final vote. Maybe I'll update this when I have my answer. In any case I love him so, so dearly and just want him to be happy and with his brother :')
